Rama Gheerawo is Deputy Director of the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design at the Royal College of Art. With over 15 years in the design industry, he has a passion for people-centred design thinking. He leads the Centre's Age & Ability research lab and has a track-record of over 100 collaborative projects with organisations that include Stannah, BlackBerry, Samsung and Toyota. Rama has had articles published recently in Volume magazine, New Design and the Journal of Design Philosophy Papers. His talk will look beyond a conventional approach to designing for an ageing population, and discuss how today's seniors are redefining ageing, and breaking stereotypical behaviour. He will outline challenges and insights drawn from recent work completed with many companies and research organisations and look at how age-inclusive attitudes can become a part of good business practice.
