Thank you for the video! How does Raspberry Pi 5 compares with ODROID N2+ (plus)?
ОтветитьThe teams demo was great. Would be interesting to see the rest of the online office suite on a rpi5.
Ответитьlarge heatsink is blue one ? and where can i buy it??
ОтветитьThanks!
ОтветитьHi Chris! Great video as always. I would've loved to see the official Pi 5 case included in the temperature comparison.
ОтветитьWould be good if you could ever buy one in the last 4 years.
ОтветитьAfter watching this video Chris has accidentally (??) Demonstrated his time machine. The video of him editing himself editing his video gives it away!
I really want a Pi5 (2 or more) when they come out.
Maybe a collaboration with Jeff regarding using Pi5 with PI4 as a k3s. Sure - normally 16GB ram is necessary but I am sure it can be done.
windows 11 seems to update very often as well.
ОтветитьI wonder if running kdenlive on top of the X emulation for the RPi4 too would see a large amount of overhead slowing its render test. I don't have an RPi4 to test, but would be curious if the emulation is causing a huge performance hit on the RPi5.
ОтветитьToo bad the Orange Pi 5 will never have the community support and tons of cool mods. Meanwhile, we are most likely stuck with the Pi 5 for a while.
Ответитьthx for the temperature tests
ОтветитьVery impressive for the 5! Plus I really enjoyed the collab with Kevin :)
ОтветитьOverclocking might improve your video editting! 3Gzh on CPU and 1Gzh on the GPU
ОтветитьExcellent showcase; end-to-end results are incredible.
Wonderful video, as usual.
Chris what's your personal view on no 3.5mm speaker output ?
ОтветитьThanks for the tests! I am also wondering how is 1080p YT video if your system boots from SSD? Will RPi5 drop frames?
Ответить🤔🤨Oh, come on!!!
I want to see it water cooled; or at least drop some dry ice on top of that skyscraper of a heat sink!!!🥶
Drop in an aquarium filled with distilled water!!! 🧐
😇
I'm so looking forward to getting a new Raspberry Pi. But...I just stopped by the Orange Pi site. A new Orange Pi 5+ is up for pre-order. It has 32 GB of RAM and a full 2280 NVME slot for about $250 Canadian shipped. That includes case and power supply. I'm not sure what anyone would use all that RAM for but it's there if you need it. Unbelievable choices these days. Oops, missed that it also includes 256 GB emmc. Now THAT'S an unbelievable deal!
ОтветитьThank you for the informative video and the clear explanations. Looks like my first Linux computer will be a Raspberry. If it is good enough for video editing, it ought to be good enough for most things
ОтветитьDo you think we'll (eventually?) be able to render videos using the new GPU? Have Raspberry Pi said anything to indicate this may be possible?
Ответитьneed a windows 11 on pi update for the pi 5, see how responsive it is
ОтветитьI keep looking to decrease my desktop footprint to make room for decorations and other forms of distraction. This may fit the bill to realize that dream. Additionally, I’m excited about the new Pi 5. Thanks for an informative video! Again, great content!
ОтветитьAssociated Press: "Now does 'Passive' cooling mean it simply 'Pass' the test?"
ОтветитьHi Chris, can the RP5 self power 2 usb3 portable hdd/ssd drives due to its greater power handling of up to 5amps now?
Ответитьnoice . init . blessing to the scissor guru ..
ОтветитьIf you want a cheap desktop PC, buy a used mini-PC, or if they are not available, look for a new one.
ОтветитьThanks Chris, the cooling section of the video reminded me of the days when I first discovered your channel when you were doing cooling tests on the RPi3.
One thought for a potential video - how good is the RPi5 as an educational computer? You could look at everything from available resources (including the bookshelf program) to software (including programs such as Stellarium and Libre office).
Time for an updated ICE Tower Cooler !
Ответитьfew days ago I saw a video of Andreas Spiess who mentioned that the need for a Pi inside a home automation project isn't really the best option anymore nowadays. He mentioned that I shoud rather get an old network computer, plug in a decent SSD and your good to go. What is your view on this? Do you have a recommendation for a new network computer that doesn't break the bank?
ОтветитьI preordered mine with Mouser Germany and only get it on the 10th of January :( After all the announcement the Pi5 would arrive in 2024 turns out true... No christmas present...
ОтветитьI'm quite surprised by the results with the heatsink alone (although, of course, it's a pretty beefy one) and that hint of stability at the end made me want to see it run for a longer period of time, just to be sure that it would stabilize and that it would guarantee that you could use it for, I don't know, maybe a whole day running whatever you wanted. Transcoding videos, for example.
Chris, I don't know if you'll ever see this comment because I'm typing this a few days after the video has been released, but I, and I'm sure a big portion of your audience would appreciate if you could graph those temperature results at the end instead of just showing us a table. It's certainly good to see those numbers on the screen, but a graph would make it much more digestible, easier to compare, etc.
Passively cooled temperatures are very respectable and gives me hope that third party case manufacturers will indeed make passively cooled cases. my Pi3 and PI4's are using custom passively cooled cases and fully enclose the PI board. This is very important to me as my apartment is very dusty and fan's just suck the dust up. (self reminder, to blow out the dust on my Zotac ID92 PC)
ОтветитьChristopher! I have a good idea for a video you should do. There’s a project called Cinepi V2 that uses a Raspberry Pi 4B and a HQ camera to make a cinema camera that records 12-bit cinema DNG. Seems like something right up your alley and the most difficult thing needed is some soldering.
ОтветитьI kind off think if the price goes ballistic then the point has been lost
ОтветитьAnother great video Chris… thanks for more tests on the RPi 5. Looking good. Can’t wait for mine to arrive, so I can give it a go.
Ответить👍
ОтветитьI think it's still single channel memory.
Which will bottleneck cpu and gpu.
Besides that, I wonder if it will fit a flirc case made for a pi4b.
Would love to see if any 5v pwm fan can be connected to and controlled from the pi5, that way a bigger heatsink with a big fan can be use in a automotive environment.
ОтветитьI find your unique delivery, very relaxing/comforting.
Like that of a quirky college professor whom is well liked/respected.
☮
I recently used a pi 4 for an online lesson with my college using teams, it actually worked surprisingly well, great video as usual
ОтветитьSweet RPI5 info. For me it is the GPIO PWM, I2C, SPI, etc. projects using OpenCV, TensorFlow Lite with Python and robotic examples. 🥳
After all the RPi stuff was to teach kids to program and build projects. Then the adults got interested in these SBCs. 🐬 Thank you.
In all of your free time, can you do a side by side comparison of a Raspberry Pi(your pick) and the STM32mpu157d-dk1. It’s a dev board from STMicro with similar form factor as the Pi, with embedded Linux and supported by the Yocto project. If I can middle through and make it work , I’m sure you’ll have no problems setting it up for peak performance in no time.
Maybe make a video on Yocto, featuring the ST32mpu157. Thanks, as always for the excellent content.
He's good! I've send a like when he plugged in the cable for the completeness of the test.
ОтветитьPassive cooling YEAH!!! Man I hate cooling fans.
ОтветитьGreat testing! PI5 can easily replace desktop computers! Gracias
Ответитьthanks for addressing the cooling situation.. always tends to be my biggest question on these devices
