Excellent content as always! Some bonus tips from someone who works in optical...
1. Tint does not equal UV protection. Clear, non-tinted lenses can (and should ALWAYS) have UV protection, and cheap tinted lenses probably won't have any UV protection. Cataracts, macular degeneration and a number of other ocular diseases are worsened or have earlier onset with UV exposure.
2. If you want to get prescription lenses and have a high prescription (high + or -), ask for the highest index possible/that you can afford. The higher the index, the thinner and lighter the lens (for the prescription). This is especially important for larger frames (aviator, wayfarer styles), since heavy lenses can cause your glasses to become front-heavy and slide down your nose all the time.
3. LCD screens are hard to read with polarized lenses due to how the lenses filter light, this does not occur with tinted lenses, so consider whether or not you will need to frequently use phones and other devices (computers, restaurant menus) while wearing glasses.
4. Provided the frame is not excessively large or small, most opticians can adjust glasses purchased elsewhere (for a fee) to fit you perfect. So if there is a pair you love and it's just a little off, loose, askew, it may be something that can be fixed.
Thank you for coming to my comment section TedTalk :)
Glad I watched the video. I never knew the name of my sunglasses shape that I love and have been wearing for years. “Panto”
ОтветитьI love my club master metal with photochromic lenses. But choose wisely and don’t get transparent lens with mirror finished. I made this mistake and now hate my second pair sadly
Ответитьwhat about the round hippie / django glasses? There are some slightly futuristic modern iterations, really enjoy those actually
ОтветитьTip #1 rock Persols.... You can't go wrong. They're expensive but worth it.
ОтветитьBeen collecting seriously since 2006. I’ve moved away from Luxottica to independent makers now, and love the variety. I’d say I’m most partial to titanium and cotton acetate frames, with glass or left field lense choices. Once you’ve been collecting for a while, you realise it’s a much of a muchness at the high end market, and often it’s the story sold that clinches it.
ОтветитьThe most dressy of them are the round metal (I think is a panto) wich are much more refined than the clubmasters. The different base colors may give enhanced contrast, being grey the neutral. Once you decided wich base color you need you may alter the apparent color with the mirror coating, which reduces glare a bit. So if you like blue you can get a grey base with blue mirror finish, I you like it very cool get one with gradient. Nobody will confuse a cheap gas station shade with a neat mirrored Ray Ban flash. The chromance line (polycarbonate sorry) have double gradient mirrored models (like maui Jim) with contrast enhancing techonology borrowed from Oakley, no way they will look cheap. G-15 is for sky, brown enhances contrast, grey is neutral, but they are all legacy technology.
ОтветитьThe Moscot Lemtosh is iconic
ОтветитьThanks a million for precious information!
ОтветитьMy favourite pair of sunglasses I own are my ray ban Caribbean frames with the striped Havana finish and green lenses I highly recommend them for any gentlemen interested in late 50s or 60s eyewear they look very sharp
ОтветитьI truly do not know how to order sunglasses in my size or how to get sunglasses that fit my face. I’ve bought tons of sunglasses over the years and they often times end up too big for my face. How do I figure that out?
ОтветитьHey I’m trying to determine which material is more casual/formal metal vs acetate
ОтветитьI wanna hear you share. I wait everyday to watch your video.
ОтветитьHelp, please! I saw Nathan's sunglasses and must have a pair. Are they Moscot Lemtosh Suns in classic Havana? If so, what lens size did he select?
ОтветитьI've worn small sized teashades for years now. Functional, but both retro AND timeless, like Chuck Taylor shoes. They fit my face shape perfectly and look good with anything I'm wearing.
ОтветитьWhat glasses is Kyle wearing in this video?!
ОтветитьThe Gentleman's Gazette is a pun channel masked as a clothes channel
ОтветитьI always favour Persol sunglasses
Ответитьif you want to protect your eyes stay at home and close your shutters, who wears sunglasses for protection? I wear mine at night.
ОтветитьSince Biden wears aviators the style will soon be DOA
ОтветитьGreat video. Very helpful.glasses are expensive and knowing the background will help get the best
ОтветитьJFK wore American Optical Saratoga and bond wore Polaroid cool rays in thunderball and Tom Ford Snowden’s in spectre. For those who might mistake the aforementioned for ray bans.
ОтветитьWayfarers are my go to style. ALWAYS go for a darker color frame. It literally always goes with everything. Love all 4 of my frames. My medium black frame with grey lens is my everyday carry.
ОтветитьPit vipers
ОтветитьJames Bond wore Cool-Rays
ОтветитьI have Ray Ban Aviator and Clubmaster
Ответитьlove watching these guys , the most awkward looking dudes around , they just look so out of place and uncomfortable it's hilarious
ОтветитьΦλωριες
ОтветитьPlease make a video of how to remove nose hair as a gentleman. I need your advice Gentleman's Gazette!

Tf is this gentleman doing here doing the complete video
ОтветитьWhat are you're thaughts on julbo vermont classics?
ОтветитьMost, globally useful video after a long time.
ОтветитьRandolph...if you like the best.
ОтветитьI've always wore Club Master sun glasses....Old school according to some but classic and look great .
ОтветитьPreston I get the Men in Black but you look like Agent Smith from the Matrix, that's a fact.
ОтветитьAviators and Panto will do for me.
ОтветитьEvidently I've got a collection of Ray-Bans (4 pair) John Lennon's, Aviators, Clubmasters, RB3492. I had an Outdoorsman but my traveling companion tossed em. So I replaced them and they got gone too after about a week, no replacement is forthcoming.
ОтветитьIf you take a closer look at Cary Grant's sunglasses in North by Northwest, you'll see that he's wearing a pair of Moscot Lemtosh sunglasses. They are still being made today. Looking great but at $320, they are too expensive for my budget.
ОтветитьI wore Panto sunglasses for a long while, then recently switched to the browline style. Love them both!
ОтветитьPreston’s choice of headwear is timeless - certainly avoiding sunglasses worn on top of the hat…
ОтветитьExcellent recommendations as usual. Please remember that photochromic (“Transitions”) lenses may not darken inside a car, because the windscreen glass will stop the UV parts of the light. I use a fixed-tint pair of prescription sunglasses for driving.
Polarising lenses are available as fixed tint prescriptions - my all round favourite shades.
Preston looks like one of the agents in The Matrix! That was spot on!
ОтветитьFlak, Tactical or Gascan style Oakley’s are good for Military and Law Enforcement they are practical and look pretty cool with Uniforms.
ОтветитьCan’t go wrong with a Clubmaster, a Wayfarer and an Aviator.
ОтветитьCan you recommend any brands with classicaly styled sunglasses based in Europe. I am looking for sunglasses under 70 euros.
ОтветитьFor me, Aviators are always my go-to style. 👌🏻
Ответитьnothing beats the Rayban Aviator... classic and never goes out of style
ОтветитьEnjoyable video.....
ОтветитьNow trying to decide if my Persol 714's are Panto or not. Either it is and they made the list or they are not, which in my opinion are an honorable mention.
