You guys are messing with me! Why did you guys get rid of your Epi 59 LP’s?
Ответить"I couldn't not buy it!" 😄
ОтветитьThose blue parts are either rotary micro switches or trim pots. There's a woody midrange on it, not too bad! Glad you picked the Tokai.
ОтветитьI just watched this. My one comment on the LP copy is you can see the seam telegraphing through the finish on the back in the light. It happened on a PRS Korean E245 I owned as well. They use an acrylic type finish I think. Lovely guitar though! Your collection dwarfs mine at it's largest (max 6)
ОтветитьColin, did you ever work in Denmark Street? Great idea to film there. There was a good article in Guitar Player not so long ago about its history, and included quite a bit of info about Top Gear. Sid Bishop (who was in the Deviants) was one of the people who ran it! I Used to do a weekly radio programme for an arty left-field station in the noughties that was based there.
ОтветитьAlright then. Here's the plan. Back to London with the Stoner in tow and find that Flying V. Make a trade and bring the V back home.
ОтветитьI want one, too often after a guitar video , I end up getting one more for the collection, THIS is Exceptional - ! ! ! ! Jim - Arkansas US
Ответить🎸 Would replacing the V's neck maintain the value for a better trade or does the original neck hold its value? 🤔
ОтветитьThe Tokai is gorgeous. Can't wait for next week's video. Well done.
Ответить@theguitaristas I want to thank you for this posting... Currently on holiday in London from Portland Oregon in the US and visited Denmark Street because of it! Hallelujah! So f*cking cool! Much appreciated! Cheers mate!
ОтветитьI need to go back to London ! The coolest place in the world for sure. I haven’t been there for 50 years, honestly. What a porn-fest. Thanks Colin. Really enjoyed this one.
ОтветитьI may have had a brief play on that Tokai from Rose Morris myself about 2 months ago when I went in there. Enjoy it!
ОтветитьInteresting 'vid'... Great tour... and........ the "Happy Ending" ?????????????????????????????????????
ОтветитьThe thing is Colin you make all the guitars you play sound great!
ОтветитьAfter having watched your video reviewing this Tokai, it feels a little disconcerting when the shop guy selling the Tokai to you says it’s pafs are “very low output”… 😂
ОтветитьTokie episode next for me. The Japanese make great guitars.
ОтветитьStoner Sounds Awesome 😎
ОтветитьThe Stoner looks great . Felt like I was back in London for a bit great field trip enjoyed the video a lot . Even learned some music history.
ОтветитьI bought it! lol
ОтветитьNow I gotta figure out a way to get from San Diego to London.
ОтветитьI've just bought a Tokai Love Rock as well, should be arriving soon. The comment made in the video by the sales guy about not wanting to by a new Gibson again is exactly what I'm thinking at the moment as well - I have 1 used and 1 new Les Paul - a Standard and a Custom respectively, and if the Tokai turns out to be as good as I'm expecting it to be based on everything I've read and the video's I've seen, then I don't see myself spending the asking prices for Gibson's in the future because it's sort of like 'what for ?'. We shall see but cool video anyway.
ОтветитьWhat this proves to me is that my credit cards need to stay locked up or locked out when visiting Denmark Street. Thanks for sharing the sights and sounds!
ОтветитьVery cool trip! I felt my skin crawling when they dude in the shop started talking about commission. I don't know why anyone would ever sell on commission, no risk or outlay for the shop, a wait for the customer to get paid. You might as well sell it yourself. It's totally pointless.
ОтветитьI had to get 1000 brown m&ms or Ozzy wouldnt go on stage that night.
ОтветитьFantastic episode, I loved it! I hope you will make more of these types of vids to mix in with your regular guitar breakdown reviews. Maybe even a guest or two once in a while, I loved your interaction with Mike McWilliams.
ОтветитьA great video for someone who can't get to London. In my experience they will give a good trade in price but their prices are ludicrous, normally double ebay rates, I mean all the second hand shops.
ОтветитьAhh, so many guitars so little time ...
Great video Colin, did you trade the Dutch guitar in for the Tokai?
Awesome videos Colin!
Could you wave your wand over an Epiphone Les Paul 1960's tribute plus please??
Ooh baby! Take it off!
ОтветитьI really wish you could try a Slash Goldtop. $799. Woth custom pups and a nice case. I think you would be very pleasently surprised. Maybe not... I am.
ОтветитьGreat episode. The content kept me interested and as a fellow sufferer of GAS, totally understood......
ОтветитьNext time u are in a shop and buy a mid priced axe, ask them where the gig bag is when they bring your axe out just in a cardboard box. Most mid priced guitars ship around the world with gig bags and some with actual cases. In the UK, no gig bag cos the cheating bastards separate them and sell the bag or case separate. I bought an ES175 from Guitar Guitar and it showed up without it's case and I know for a fact they ship in a case. Went to the shop, fuckers had opened the box and took the case out. Can barely get a set of strings with a expensive new axe nowadays from those bastards at Andertons or Guitar Guitar or PMT etc. Hate guitar shops.
ОтветитьNever seen a 'Stoner' les Paul before. Can see the shape of the decal on that headstock too, very poor. Looks like a cheap piece of chit. One of four pieces of chit. Also looks like one of those those slash copies.
ОтветитьI've been doing tunable/controlled/partial splits for a while now and I love them! 😉
ОтветитьGreetings from North Carolina USA my friend. I have to ask you why the seller didn't replace the flying V when it arrived to you with a broken neck? Here if you buy a guitar from a business they will replace it if damaged in shipping and even a private seller will usually do something to make it right. I have to ask, what kind of business/person sold you this guitar and didn't make it right? My wife and I watch ur channel regularly and we consider you our friend, and so it bothers us if someone does you wrong and don't make it right!!
ОтветитьGreat episode. Now to watch the Tokai review. Gotta love Fridays. Yay!
ОтветитьBeen really enjoying your vids for a while now but this was a real treat. Then I see your bike T... (and have just watched your Yam Revstar review) Knew you were one of the good guys! Got back into guitar about a year ago for those rainy days I cant get out on the bike! Gone full nerd on them now too. Cheers for that. ;) Right, away to make a feckin racket on 6 strings or 2 wheels.
ОтветитьTokai are great guitars but I HATE that 'Love Rock' logo!! The SG doesn't have that so I would buy that model out of the two.
Ответитьdid i see a watkin guitar next to the petrol pump
Ответитьamazing, thank you
ОтветитьRapier 44 ...I used to drool over this one in the Bell Catalogue (Surbiton) - 4 Pick ups!! Haha.... But i ended up getting a Columbus Strat copy. Still in the loft - ( with a few horriic mods)
ОтветитьI first started going to Denmark Street in 1975. I worked at the GPO (BT)Tower. It’s changed so much since then. I even used to help out in Andy’s guitar shop. He’d give us guitars to do small mods on….happy days!
ОтветитьWhat a historic place to visit. Truly amazing! I gotta admit, I'm a bit envious of you Colin 😅Excellent video!
ОтветитьGreat Vid.
ОтветитьVisiting London in December, looking forward to my first visit to Denmark Street, this is a very useful video to get my bearings! Thanks!!
ОтветитьThe 212 amp on the floor is a Roland JC 120
ОтветитьGuitar shops just don't understand the concept of less is more
ОтветитьYou're not a real working musician in London until you've been ripped off by one of the shops down Denmark Street. I lost my 1963 Epiphone Texan to Andy's sometime in the 80s. I wonder where it is now...
