“Unfair war”? Your logic thusly says there is such a thing as a “fair” version. That is a perversely reductionist view of war. To paraphrase, “Wars do not determine who wins, rather who is left”.

War?.
That rules out most of the western worlds ,( Israeli included ) recent attacks on middle Eastern people's.
They were more akin to genocides.

I'd include Tlthe hilariously one-sided British invasion of Ethiopia in 1868. An insane ruler started kidnapping priests and diplomats. Britian sailed in a rescue force of 20,,000 British and Indian troops with 40,000 horses and elephants - Marched across a mountainous desert, annialated the Emperor's army, rescued the hostages, and then went home again. It would be amazing logistics now, but in the 1860s it was next level.

Short: USA is a imperial terrorist and unfair to the bones. The USA caused 25 million (!!) death civilians so far. Nevertheless they never got any international sanctions. I hope that will change when they invate Iran in the near future - which would be a war crime.

I'm surprised the Rhodesian conflict didn't come up (although I realize it's controversial). But having the Rhodesians highly trained and equipped by comparison made them battlefield victorious again and again while ultimately losing the war. Although I guess that disqualifies them from it being one-sided since they ultimately lost (although on the battlefield it was one-sided).

I was with the 3rd ACR. We captured a lot of Iraqi tanks, which since we didn't have the logistics to pack up and take home, we towed out and shot up like it was a shooting gallery.

I got to see inside several of them, still with all their gear and ammo, and realized immediately why they were no match for us: they used caseless rounds with about half the propellant of a US Army tank round, much of which was stored openly. ANY penetration was likely to set that ammo off, no matter how minor. On top of that, the gunner's station used no modern equipment, but a very large scope marked with about a dozen kinds of manual-calculation notching systems. This meant that the gunner had to have information everything from range to target width/length/angle to current wind speed in order to lay the gun and fire it accurately - which in a real warfare situation, happening in real time, took a lot longer and was prone to error, especially at longer ranges.

It was the equivalent of a little kid swinging at you while you held them at arm's reach, before punching their lights out.

The only ones who fight just wars are idiots.

That's why the cold war was cold because the USSR and USA were equal in terms of firepower that's why neither of them wanted direct war with each other.

The duty of a military leader is to ensure that a war is ended as quickly as possible with as few casualties to his own men as feasible, therefore, it is the moral imperative of a military leader to use every tool he has at his disposal to remove the ability and/or the will of his enemy to keep fighting so as to minimize the length of the conflict and the casualties suffered by his troops, hence, there is no such thing as an unfair fight since the most fair thing any commander can do is to ensure the survival of his men.
As such, this should be called the most unbalanced or poorly matched wars since what you've ultimately described were conflicts where one side was outnumbered, outgunned or both by the other.

T-72 and T-80 were both state of the art, or as close as the Russians could produce at the time of Desert Storm. Ironically, that's still true. Yeah, yeah; I can hear "but T-90", the counter to that is it's just an upgraded T-72. They even forgot to upgrade the drive train, which is why both tanks are extremely slow in reverse, which causes a lot of losses.

But US planners were scared shitless because of the reputation the T-72 had. According to information from the Russians, the tanks were every bit as good as our Abrams. The Abrams only entered service a few years after the T-72, and both started development around the same time.

The T-72 is still used in a front line, main battle tank role by a bunch of countries including Russia.
