Gutted I missed one over my house two days ago, very rarely see them head out on the North Atlantic route.
The sound was majestic ,at 21,000ft, but I thought it was a small turbo prop from our local airport, least until I checked 5 minutes later 😢
I hope it comes back on similar route, I'm a watching 🙏

Νομιζω το ur-11316 κανει λίγο διαφορετικό ηχο σε σχεση με το ur-11819. Το πρωτο ειναι an-12bk ενω το δευτερο an12-b. Δεν ξερω τι διαφορες εχουν. Παντως δεν θα ξεχασω το ur-11316 που περασε απο την Θεσσαλονίκη 2 τα μεσάνυχτα και εκανε τοσο δυνατο και πανεμορφο ηχο

I sat in my living room and heard a propeller plane and thought nothing of it as we live in tue descent path of the airport and some Dash 8 still operate there and until recently some ATR72 now then some Dornier 328.

After one minute I still heard it and started to wonder and after 2 minutes I checked flightradar and it was an An12 that passed not too close on its path from Frankfurt to Cairo

This beauty flew over LEJ today at 23000ft. What a sound 😍😍😍😍

I am old enough to have flown commercially in a turbo prop Lockheed back in the mid 1950s. Such sounds and such low speed power performance. Now we see and hear those Antonovs. A very well desinged bird for everyday routes in Russia. One of the best.

Glad to have these beauties here at LEJ very frequently. Flying almost everyday atleast once from LEJ to SKP and back to LEJ. I hope that i will be able to spot them for many more flights to come
