I was gonna get the exact samsung monitor here but after watching this and reading the comments it seems like I shouldn't. My current laptop has an IPS so I'll definitely notice. The smearing since I play a lot of FPS games
ОтветитьI could have sworn I noticed OLED black smearing on my AMOLED phone (oneplus 7t). There was a black horizontal bar on top of a white horizontal bar, the black smeared into the white as I scrolled up or down.
Ответитьlove using my VA monitor at 0 brightnes :D
ОтветитьI have a Philips 1080p VA monitor that I use pretty regularly with a PS4 pro for games like Fortnite, and I've never personally noticed any serious motion blur issues. It's not a particularly fancy model, considering it cost le funny money ($69 USD), but it hasn't given me any trouble so far. I'm happy with it for my console and my old laptop.
ОтветитьSmearing is that present at 60hz?
Ответитьjust cause you're getting an IPS doesn't mean you gotta go for the 800:1 krappy contrast ratio
my Alienware AW2521HFA has 1250:1 contrast ratio and it SHOWS...
next to my DELL P2414H and DELL U2312HM its like night and day..
I thought bout keeping them all for a triple monitor experience
but the contrast ratio on the Aliendell is so good..
that I'm selling the other two dells and probably getting two more Aliendells
I've used three monitors in the last five years, and I just stopped using a VA panel a few weeks ago (oled time)
I upgraded to a 165 hz VA panel from Asus, after using a... Samsung? 1080p 60hz monitor that was from before the invention of displayport. I never noticed the black smearing too much, or maybe had no idea what motion looked like without it, but had more serious issues with VRR flickering that made the monitor more or less impossible to use with GSYNC enabled.
VA is the best
ОтветитьI have a MSI Optix MAG301CR2 30" next to a LG UltraGear 34GK950F 34" on my desktop system and the 200hz refresh rate of the VA panel in the MSI monitor vs the 144 hz refresh rate of the LG panel certainly helps.
ОтветитьI like IPS colors, but the poor contrast ratio bugs me. It didn't before, but after owing a VA panel for a few years, I've grown fond of the contrast (and curve, a mostly VA-exclusive thing), and it's hard to go back. Black smearing is a thing, but with the right overdrive settings and being sure to drive the panel at full framerate, I don't have/see any issue in fast FPS games. OLED sounds great (though they have their own issues), and I'd give it a try, but not when they cost a month's rent. TN has good motion clarity, but it every other way is worse. In the end, I could live with good examples of any of them, but there's no one-size-fits-all monitor and probably never will be. Micro-LED sounds promising, but only if they can get the price way, way down from where it is currently (and we have actual products).
ОтветитьThank you for saving me from buying va monitor 😊
ОтветитьCompletely subjective and not objective...
Ответитьwasting money on 3 of monitors when you could have 1000$ OLED
ОтветитьSo, funny thing, I've thought for 6 years that my primary display was IPS. I just now found that it is in fact a VA panel. I ran some motion clarity tests (artificial as well as in games) on it (4K, 60Hz, VA) and my secondary display (1080p, 60Hz, IPS) and the motion clarity is very noticeably worse on the IPS panel. I was confused because I saw this video a while a go, just now putting it out there to say your mileage may vary. I will probably now be buying VA, because of the blacks, the price and since motion clarity is apparently a non-issue and varies per product and not by panel type.
ОтветитьHere is motion displayed on a IPS (moves the mouse slightly) and HERE IS MOTION ON A VA PANEL!!! (moves mouse wildly) 😒
Ответитьlines up with my experience of VA monitors as well.
ОтветитьYou are the embodiment of everything wrong with consumerism.
ОтветитьI have a 27in gigabyte va panel ( borderlands 2, monster hunter world and kingdom hearts) im very surprised im not getting such bad black smearing
ОтветитьWell I have an MSI 27'' ips display. It has such a bad motion render yellow can turn blue/red at 120 fps and it's a 165hz display. It is horrible sadly I can't return it.
Ответитьam using a va panel for 3 years now !!! asus vg27vq have a lot of smearing but if you turn downt the sharpness and the trace free the smearing goes down but its there !!! am playing mainly fps games and its a lil bit bad that smearing because when you playing a fast pace games you cant see many things from smearing but in overall uses VA was awsome to me !!! great colours for me great blacks !!! for rpg games, sports games, action was pretty nice for my eyes, for movies is totally great !!! that blacks making movies so wonderfull
ОтветитьI think you never played on the Samsung Odyssee G9. Samsung is the only company who mitigated the dark smearing effects successful.
ОтветитьI’ve been using budget monitors. Both an ips and a va, but the Va has higher refresh rate so that’s what I main. Monitors are 300 bucks for the really good ones but I got two for less than 300 so for me who mostly plays story games I’m fine
ОтветитьConclusion don't buy VA monitors ever
Ответитьif you want smearing, try a 10 year old 43" 1080p tv... :D im looking to a 43" 4k 165hz IPS monitor but they are expensive and hard to find... yeah i like BIG screens... :P
ОтветитьImma go with TN then and enjoy fps games with shitty coloring
ОтветитьI bought 200hz 1080p curved va panel 24 inches and i dont see any smearing and motion blur is quiet decent for 160 dollars i cant find better
ОтветитьIf I wen the smearing would probably give me motion sickness, I would never buy a VA.
ОтветитьI have a 42" VA panel and at first I was absolutely horrified with the smearing as I was playing a lot of PUBG and in that game is was insanely noticeable. However ironically my taste in games I prefer playing has shifted dramatically to more RPG and isometric style games and I actually got used to it and managed to mostly tame it. But I would definitely avoid VA's if you are a fast paced shooter fan
ОтветитьVA is best used at 120hz imo , it's waaaaay less smeary and still smooth
Ответитьmy main monitor(and the first I bought) is a samsung 71 hz VA, and after this video, i think i have to try tn panels or ips because im a competitive player, and also a video editor, so im fucked up
ОтветитьIPS has one over huge drawback, IPS glow. I actually wouldn't care much about the contrast ratio issue if every single monitor wasn't plagued by some degree of ugly white glow in random corners.
ОтветитьI use a dell 32dgm, at the price of this we can't find something more better.
Of course are better monitors but at huge price.
For a occasionally players more than max 500 e not worth to spend for a monitor
Bro I fuckin hate the way this guy says "smearing"
ОтветитьLove the t-shirt noob!!
ОтветитьLol $600 and under VA monitors aren't great choices. Cmon....If you were using a Samsung 4k 32'' Neo G7 or Neo G8, you would be having a different conversation.
ОтветитьJust got 2 gigabyte 34 inch VA panels, I think this only matters if you are a monitor expert, I'm only noticing it because I've been told to look for it. I think the much larger problem with VA panels, is their shitty viewing angles. Apart from this, the panels are a cost effective option that give you large, curved screen real estate. Until large, curved OLED displays are a cost effective option, VA's are a sure winner in price performance balance.
ОтветитьI have a tn and it's much better imo than the ups I had before it modern TN panels have gotten really good it has great colours and contrast and the ghosting is non existent
ОтветитьWas considering buying a va but after seeing this vid.. I’ll pay the extra for ips
ОтветитьMY VA is fie there is no problem like that
ОтветитьI have a new VA panel monitor from MSI the g27cq4p e2 and there is no blurry motion 😂
Ответитьwhy do i have to see this after i buy it
ОтветитьIf you tune blacks on VA to be as bright as they are on IPS, the smearing gets a lot better actually
ОтветитьMprt response is useless, u have to see gtg response
ОтветитьVA panels sucks.
ОтветитьI've been using an Acer ED320QX 240hz VA monitor for 2 years now and been impressed by it.
I barely notice any smearing when gaming and the picture in motion scenes are sharp and clear.
$300 MSRP but I got a refurbished one for $150. Now I wanna try an IPS monitor for comparison.
Everyone prefer different visuals. I really like my VA monitor. Waiting for oled to became more household item.
Ответитьi never see smearing at my dell va monitor :D
but i not play shooters so is this a thing only shooter games have? :D why you have a tearing at the screenshot? no vrr on? btw. my old va monitor from aoc was ghosting but the dell costs 2,5 times more money and has no smearing/ghosting is this a quality problem or is dell/alienware only better then others? or is it bcz all guys who mean va is smearing use windows? :D (joke)
After trying many many monitors over the years Ive learned that Im quite sensitive to motion blur / smearing, it is very noticable to me. But once I finally broke down and bought an OLED there is absolutely no going back for me now, it's like night and day when it comes to smearing and response time.
