My favourite thing about CRTs is how the irradiate your face with x-rays
ОтветитьI’d bet there’s a decent market for retro gamers.
ОтветитьThe twisting methods means PUSHING and twisting until the cap comes lose, NOT pulling. Then chance of damage is then extremely low.
ОтветитьIf someone is able to make a new board for this kind of CRT screen … I'd love to see a new board for a 100Hz Panasonic CRT TV that would make it possible to use it directly as a monitor for VGA output from a PC. It can't be that hard, can it?
ОтветитьGenius, converting that full-wave bridge rectifier to a voltage doubler! Good stuff!
ОтветитьI grew up with an lg crt to and it had a version of space invaders on it, the nostalgia is hitting hard
ОтветитьThis would make sense in an arcade cabinet, probably. Or even just for testing CRT's from broken TV's to see if they're salvageable for such projects.
ОтветитьThats great that you got the remote with it. But getting a schematic too. 😊😊 Thats really cool.
Looks like you got your money's worth there 👍🇮🇪🙏
A British PAL TV of this era should have SCART. I've recently adapted my Atari STE to run on the SCART input of a PAL flatscreen TV. Have Americans never heard of SCART?
ОтветитьI wonder how few people know we need these tv's for the Nintendo zapper, the Sega lightgun, and the Playstation G-con? I still play all of my original video games on these CRT screens, including an arcade cabinet.
You can always try something like retron 5 but if you pay attention you can see and hear the difference on such an HD flat screen, those weren't made for this, they didn't exist back then.
Björk for the win
ОтветитьThere is just something magical about CRTs that you can reproduce on modern LCDs. I was lucky enough to find a CRT and the image quality cannot be matched the closest thing I have for modern TV is 144hz OLED that has almost as good quality as my CRT that is from the 2000s
ОтветитьVery nice
Ответитьmade in china i assume?
ОтветитьI think the board is meant for a flat screen crt. Would be nice to see that.
ОтветитьIf this board had S-Video and RGB of any kind this would be perfect for getting the most out of CRTs that would otherwise be "undesirable" for retro computing/retro gaming. I own many PAL and NTSC devices and fitting a TV with something like this would be a pipe dream.
ОтветитьI like the Frankenstein look on the front. It looks like it's turbo charged or something!
ОтветитьIn the arcade industry we avoid these at all costs. Very unreliable. But we run 15khz monitors not standard televisions.
ОтветитьWow who uses Ray tube tvs anymore these days.
ОтветитьI hope you feel better :)
ОтветитьShould have done a before and after.
ОтветитьNever heard someone else other from Ireland say “yoke”……you Irish PAL?
ОтветитьThat's so old-farty: to assemble the TV-set with a new board using 75% brain and screw up a kid's game 2nd level which requires 10% brain.
ОтветитьIf that human malware was C19, yeah it will mess with your metabolism, night sweats, cold sweats, increased sensitivity to environmental issues. Hope you never were a Ginny pig for any of the MRNA VAXES. They are finding individuals who are having issues now with their immune systems.
As for the board I see many wanting RGB inputs, when I heard them advertise a digital board, I was hoping for at least a VGA input! I have an old Mac Blueberry G3 that has issues of overheating and shutting down. This would have been an interesting upgrade. Anyone have schematic sources for these old colorful cabinet Mac's? Maybe repairing the HV power supply and adding a newer MacMini within would bring it up to date. The retro look with modern guts😊.
Hi Adrian, big fan of the channel and congrats on going full time. I have a Toshiba MH27H62 and the image is shifted so parts are cut off. There is no adjustment for horizontal and vertical via remote / menu. I even checked the manual. Any recommendations? Could this be a cap issue or is this a sign the tube is going bad? That would stink since it is a nice flat glass screen with built in DVD, VHS , S-Video on the front and Component on the back. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you
ОтветитьI have my old tiny tv which still works but no signals are available...so this was great thank you.
Ответитьcongrats u made the default video into s video output. you could of avoided all of this by just using s video
Ответитьthats so cool :)
ОтветитьIf this had rgb scart it’d be going on a ton of my sets
ОтветитьWhat was the serial number on that Magnavox? Those Chunghwa tubes are really nice.
ОтветитьCRTs have WAY better color saturation than LED and LCD displays. Even with 4K or even 8k now being a thing with flatscreens, I will still maintain that the most gorgeous monitors I've ever seen are some of those 1080p CRTs just before the death of them at least in the West. I think CRT tech would have a problem going over 1080p in terms of pixel density/resolution. But there are TONS of other reasons why CRT is better than most flatscreens nonetheless, the color range they have is absolutely gorgeous!
Ответитьthis was great! but you do laugh like Tom Cruise tbh lol
ОтветитьSerious speedrunners and vintage gamers still use CRT TVs because the frame rate is that much better compared to any flat panel.
ОтветитьWhat the hell are you watching....
ОтветитьBro crt tv are mor durable than flat screen tv
ОтветитьWhy 😂
ОтветитьRestomods with TVs. I'm into it.
Ответитьmakes sense for retro gamers to use these tvs
ОтветитьYes, there were HI-DEF CRTs avaliable that and relative to other CRTs.
ОтветитьThat's a fantastic video. I applaud your analog electronics skills 👏
ОтветитьI wonder if I can get something like this that would fit into an iMac G3 to convert it to a TV/Monitor...
Ответитьmorron
ОтветитьAny way to upgrade crttv quiter they give me such a headache when using
ОтветитьPro tip. If the reflection of a mirror is upside down. Just rotate thee mirror until its right side up.
ОтветитьI got "buzzed" by getting too close to the high voltage plug on the back of the CRT, that was the last time I messed with a CRT, LCD are way easier to work on.
ОтветитьDon't know if its nostalgia or reality. But I remember the color definition of crt tv that I used to be so beatiful as compared to the gaming monitor i use these days.
ОтветитьYou spent all that money to get a hot pixelated lady photo and it's not there and now your left with some crummy doodad board. What a scam.
