The twisting methods means PUSHING and twisting until the cap comes lose, NOT pulling. Then chance of damage is then extremely low.

If someone is able to make a new board for this kind of CRT screen … I'd love to see a new board for a 100Hz Panasonic CRT TV that would make it possible to use it directly as a monitor for VGA output from a PC. It can't be that hard, can it?

Genius, converting that full-wave bridge rectifier to a voltage doubler! Good stuff!

This would make sense in an arcade cabinet, probably. Or even just for testing CRT's from broken TV's to see if they're salvageable for such projects.

Looks like you got your money's worth there 👍🇮🇪🙏

A British PAL TV of this era should have SCART. I've recently adapted my Atari STE to run on the SCART input of a PAL flatscreen TV. Have Americans never heard of SCART?

I wonder how few people know we need these tv's for the Nintendo zapper, the Sega lightgun, and the Playstation G-con? I still play all of my original video games on these CRT screens, including an arcade cabinet.
You can always try something like retron 5 but if you pay attention you can see and hear the difference on such an HD flat screen, those weren't made for this, they didn't exist back then.

There is just something magical about CRTs that you can reproduce on modern LCDs. I was lucky enough to find a CRT and the image quality cannot be matched the closest thing I have for modern TV is 144hz OLED that has almost as good quality as my CRT that is from the 2000s

If this board had S-Video and RGB of any kind this would be perfect for getting the most out of CRTs that would otherwise be "undesirable" for retro computing/retro gaming. I own many PAL and NTSC devices and fitting a TV with something like this would be a pipe dream.

In the arcade industry we avoid these at all costs. Very unreliable. But we run 15khz monitors not standard televisions.

If that human malware was C19, yeah it will mess with your metabolism, night sweats, cold sweats, increased sensitivity to environmental issues. Hope you never were a Ginny pig for any of the MRNA VAXES. They are finding individuals who are having issues now with their immune systems.
As for the board I see many wanting RGB inputs, when I heard them advertise a digital board, I was hoping for at least a VGA input! I have an old Mac Blueberry G3 that has issues of overheating and shutting down. This would have been an interesting upgrade. Anyone have schematic sources for these old colorful cabinet Mac's? Maybe repairing the HV power supply and adding a newer MacMini within would bring it up to date. The retro look with modern guts😊.

Hi Adrian, big fan of the channel and congrats on going full time. I have a Toshiba MH27H62 and the image is shifted so parts are cut off. There is no adjustment for horizontal and vertical via remote / menu. I even checked the manual. Any recommendations? Could this be a cap issue or is this a sign the tube is going bad? That would stink since it is a nice flat glass screen with built in DVD, VHS , S-Video on the front and Component on the back. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you

CRTs have WAY better color saturation than LED and LCD displays. Even with 4K or even 8k now being a thing with flatscreens, I will still maintain that the most gorgeous monitors I've ever seen are some of those 1080p CRTs just before the death of them at least in the West. I think CRT tech would have a problem going over 1080p in terms of pixel density/resolution. But there are TONS of other reasons why CRT is better than most flatscreens nonetheless, the color range they have is absolutely gorgeous!

Serious speedrunners and vintage gamers still use CRT TVs because the frame rate is that much better compared to any flat panel.
