What if you had desert.jpg and desert.png, how would it know what to use when you do R.drawable.desert?

Thanks for showing us how to do it in java code, but I did the same loading it directly in the xml layout file. The problem is when the apk is exported to a simulator or my phone none of the images are displayed ... Can you explain me why ?
