AWS SSM Session Manager for Shell Access to EC2 Instances | Temporary SSH Credentials | Security

Did you manually install the SSM agent in the EC2 instance or does it get installed once you attach the Role "AmazonSSMManagedInstanceCore"?

Can you also show how we can use putty and aws cli to do the same that will be awesome

Thank you for the demo. However, I’m still a bit confused. I was expecting you to use the instance you added the role to as a bastion. I was looking forward to seeing how you jumped to other instances without SSH keys. Now I’m left wondering if this role will need to be added to EVERY instance you want access to - and then whenever you want to remote-into an instance you must either navigate to the System’s Mgr console screen OR use the CLI (which I’d love to see you demo).

Great video, I followed the instructions and attached IAM role. However I can't find the instance there. I am using Amazon Linux 2 so presume agent is pre-installed. Did I miss anything?

Once you attach the IAM role to an instance it might take more than 20 mins to show up under the start session tab..I thought it will be something wrong with the permission.. but it's not...hope this might help someone.

Doesn’t work

Is mandatory add a elastic IP in the EC2 for work.

I've attached IAM role to my linux instance but still it's not showing in session manager :(
