Thank you for the video. This very sad, I looked for to shopping in NYC
ОтветитьThis is just so depressing. I'm in between sizes so I usually have to bring in an 18 and a 20 so I have to buy two sizes online. I had to go to a wedding and it was a damn nightmare. I have so much to package up and return. It's exhausting.
ОтветитьThank you for doing this. 🙏🏻
ОтветитьThis doesn't surprise me one bit. I'm 5'8 and a size 14/16 and I can pretty much only shop online, especially if I want things in tall. Thank god for Madewell, honestly. I'm used to it at this point but it does suck.
ОтветитьThis makes me sad, but I'm grateful to you for putting this out there.
ОтветитьUgh…this is so frustrating! Maybe this is why I don’t clear my closet out so I can shop my own closet since I can’t just go out and pick something up. The Anthro near my used to have their plus line, but now only has it in the store on the other side of LA. Not good enough…
ОтветитьSure people living in a larger body want….and finally are getting a SMALL amount representation…that you went to 10 shops and could only find clothing in one speaks volumes – it has taken years for retailers to stop making shit with ruffles & butterflies & peplums & sequins and elasticated top jeans for plus size ladies to wear – it’s great that it’s changing albeit slowly…. what won’t change in our lifetime is how SOCIETY perceives a person in a larger body – like they/we have have failed at something – Kathleen Cameron a success coach recently posted a story when a man posed this question to her…sure I’m paraphrasing – the vibe/ the essence of it all was - if you live in a larger body you are not perceived as a success – you are large/fat & that’s an epic fail – why would people want to work with you take and your advice ??? …and that’s the part that’s a whole hell of a lot harder to change rather than a few sections in Madewell or Old Navy touting body positivity & size inclusivity.
ОтветитьZara’s XXL is more like a medium LOL.
ОтветитьI love Madewell!
ОтветитьTHANK YOU KATIE!!!! this has been a problem for far too long. And in NYC?? Jeez if you can’t shop in person there…. Then where? It’s like this in Seattle as well. Unless you are going to a department store, good luck. I hope this reaches the top of the pyramid because changes need to start at the top. Love you and everything you do!! ♥️
Ответитьwelp, this is so disheartening.
ОтветитьI just still don’t understand not carrying larger sizes in store? Is it gonna bum your smaller clients out to see their clothes are being made for fat bodies? Does accessibility make your items less desirable to your thin customers? Not enough room on the walls with all that “extra fabric”? Over it!!
ОтветитьMango has disco'd Violeta - stating they plan to merge plus with their straight size site. Kudos, right? Except with the "merge" came a noticable downgrade of style and quality. Lots of graphic tees. 🙄
ОтветитьAritzia size 10 is like a real size 6. It doesn’t make sense!! It makes me so uncomfortable
ОтветитьThis was completely unsurprising and also incredibly painful to watch. I was shriveling inside as you kept going into stores. Could there be anything more tangibly invalidating than the vast majority of in person fashion retail having a policy of “we sell clothes but not for you”?? Anyway, thanks. Talk about taking one for the team.
ОтветитьI am not surprised and have spent so many shopping trips with straight size friends pretending to be excited by accessories and bags. I felt this one deeply as I was watching you.
ОтветитьThis is infuriating. It just plain sucks.
ОтветитьThis is so disheartening but thank you for making an updated video! I’ve definitely had the repeated experience of walking soho with my friends in my early 20s and only buying earrings or shoes. And then trying to act like that’s all I wanted out of some ridiculous sense of embarrassment. It’s sad to see that’s still the reality and with all the online progress it hasn’t translated to the irl shopping experience even in a place like nyc !
ОтветитьI used to work in stores (now on the corp side of retail) and I NEVER shop IRL for clothes. I’m big on renting through Nuuly now (great extended size collection) and won’t be adding to my permanent clothing collection until there is broader size representation.
ОтветитьNo matter how many times this happens to me, it hurts. I remember going to San Francisco for a work trip and staying an extra day with a colleague to shop. She was a size 4 and spent over $2000, and I bought stationary and a pin. For reals. EVERY STORE was a total rejection. Argh.
ОтветитьDitto all the other comments. Literally almost spit my Spindrift at your camel toe caption.
ОтветитьSo disappointing. I share your frustration it would be so nice to go shop in real life
Ответить😞 This is total bullsh*t. The AVERAGE WOMAM WEARS A SIZE 16!!! Why on earth can’t they make clothing for us IN STORE???? I hate it here.
ОтветитьSize 22 with money to burn. Just make my frickin’ size, people!!
ОтветитьLove this! Shame universal standard was closed. That’s always my go to IRL store.
ОтветитьYes! My experience exactly. Currently living in NYC and when I had a themed party to go to, I couldn’t find anything in my size to fit the theme (which was just the color blue) that wasn’t budget breaking in the whole city!
ОтветитьSo frustrating. Our money is green and we’d happily spend it. Don’t even get me started on finding bras in-store
ОтветитьAnd, you still didn't find anything that would have been appropriate for that party. Custom made?
ОтветитьTo support your frustration, I was so excited to see signage in an anthro store about extended sizing. When I asked the associate if they were in a certain section or mixed in with the regular clothes she bluntly told me they were only online unless someone returned something. So I could check the whole rack if I found something I liked.
ОтветитьIt's what I expected.
ОтветитьSad to see there’s still not much progress with these stores! I will never forget going to the Lord&Taylor on 5th Ave when it was still open, and despite having a floor the length of an entire city block full of dresses, only finding 2 or 3 that I could fit into as a size 16/18.
ОтветитьHow do I feel? Discriminated.
ОтветитьLouder for the retailers at the back!!!!🏆🏆🏆
ОтветитьCan you do a madewell favorite jeans video?
ОтветитьI’m tall and a size 20 and it’s so hard to find pants in tall and extended sizing, even online
ОтветитьThanks for doing this! Not surprised either. I would like to give them my money… why don’t they want it?!?
ОтветитьWere any of the salespeople larger? I often wonder if stores only hire people who can fit in the sizes offered 🤔
ОтветитьExcellent video and that Ganni green sweater is a must if in bigger sizes 💚
ОтветитьSide note: I too love Madewell. But it’s so interesting to see this and I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out! I wonder if it’s better or worse in Europe… I should start looking more closely at the sizing offers in Berlin and report back!
ОтветитьThank you for opening people’s eyes and calling these brands out. Not being able to shop in 9 out of 10 stores is ridiculous. I’d love for you to check out and call out Brooks Brothers too. I’m curious what the results of your experiment would be if you were a plus size man shopping for men’s clothes in NYC.
