Why New Heroes don't get Skins in Overwatch 2

Yeah, this makes sense, I think. There are other ways you can tell that the Blizzard art team is severely understaffed and ill-equipped to handle the seasonal workload right now; consider, for example, highlight intros. People on Reddit at least have been complaining that a lot of the newer highlight intros are kind of boring or "floaty" and not as dynamic as some of the more interesting highlight intros we've had in the past. I bet a lot of this is a result of layoffs as well.

They prefer the braindead safe option of constant Kirko and Moth skins instead of having to rely on characters who might not sell as well smh.

i think the skins situation is more upsetting for loreheads, even with the battle pass skins there’s just a focus on pumping out poorly thought out skins people will probably want to buy rather than in overwatch one where a lot of new skin releases related to an aspect of gameplay (junkenstein stuff) or an actual chunk of at least some part of lore (captain horus, blackwatch reyes etc). it feels like the new devs have just abandoned the lore at this point :’)

People who say they want venture skins won't actually spend the money because ventures are ugly.

This all definitely makes sense, seems the problems caught up with them because this current season is honestly a little lackluster in comparison to the content before.

Agree it's cooler to have heroes over skins, but still.. season 14?! That means we have to wait for this and the next one to end before we see anything cool.

Easy answer lazy. Also why are they doing a trend of annoying female characters like juno and venture even kiriko have such annoying voice acting over playing to trop of cute but awkward. The characters have zero personality compared to ow1. Blizzard got money hungry and lazy.

why OW1 launched with so many skins? there was passion for the project... now its a souless cash grab
maybe the next time there will be skins but no hero release... yeah, there will be skins for a new hero, but no hero release...

Lifeweaver doesn’t have more content like voice lines and he needs more skins. So does ramattra cause I’m still pissed that he didn’t get the mythic skin.

As someone who doesn't play Overwatch, I'm baffled. Why do they even make these ugly characters like Venture? It's obvious she won't be selling skins. But then launching a character without skins is even more baffling. Do they want to make money or not? Blizzard's execs are doing everything they can to bankrupt the company. Let's be real guys, Overwatch died with OW1.

Honestly new characters don’t get skins on release purely off popularity, this isn’t event a ow2 thing. Why release/put effort into skins for characters that aren’t popular knowing it won’t sell.
On top of everything it’s dev/people ahead of the skin board’s favouritism 🤷‍♀️

I miss the days of events releasing with like 10 free to obtain skins from loot boxes and currency. New characters also being released with 6 free cool skins. Good times. Shame that shamelessly leaching the playerbase to their last penny makes Blizzard more money than making a good game.

GAME IN ONLY MAINTENANCE MODE, APPROACHING! Very soon it will be any new map, skins and heroes, just maintaining the game as it is.

I installed OW2 after not playing since OW1 and was quickly reminded why i quit. Game is full of no skill heroes spamming abilities down chokes

They just want to maximize profits. All they’re doing is selling all their stuff in little bits.

They don’t want the skins to compete with the battle pass. Mean if you think about the shop as being a market, they control the whole market so they want to make sure each little item gets its time and doesn’t have competition from other items. And since they can control the competition, they’re always gonna put certain items together so that there won’t be too much competition so they can maximize profits later. It’s all marketing and it’s all crap. Just play the game.

i mean if juno doesnt get a lot of legendary skins, better for me cause i wanna collect all her cosmetics but everything is so pricey

Blizzard’s obsessive laser focus on giving Kiriko everything is legitimately making me start to hate the character. A character like Sojurn have been in the game just as long, and doesn’t even get HALF the amount of skins as Kiriko. And don’t start me on Venture, it’s practically criminal the negligence going on there.

They really need to stop giving the same handful of characters EVERYTHING (Kiriko, Rein, Mercy, Tracer, ect.) while ignoring others (Zarya, Sojurn, Venture)
