It should be clear to see that Turkey was encouraged & probably helped to undertake this project in order to be a partner in BRICS+. As many BRICS+ members are developing canals like this all over the world to thwart US-NATO from blocking strategic shipping routes such as the Malaca Straits, (Thailand canal), the Panama canal alternatives include a southern and Northern canal system through South America and a canal through Mexico. It will be a PPP project. That means that the government will not pay a dime for this construction. Private companies will built it- operate it- pay taxes- maintained it- and transfer it free of charge to the government after 15 years of operation.

When this canal is built the government will say to the ships using the Bosporus strait that they will have to wait and limit the amount of ship passing. No ship would want to wait even if it is free so they will take this new route

Not a big deal, the black sea isn't as significant as suez or panama canals for world shipping.
