The M14 uses an Aperture Sight, not a Ghost Ring.
We’re getting A LOT of questions asking if (*insert M14 brand here*) is recommended.
For now, this video will have to do.
We’re also getting A LOT of viewers misunderstanding the findings in this video.
Although a competition M14 is shown, the findings represent a stock M14.
In this video, a “stock M14” is a commercially available M14-type rifle with a USGI spec’d receiver, USGI spec’d barrel, Unitized Gas Cylinder, and NM Op Rod Spring Guide. Although the Unitized Gas Cylinder and NM Op Rod Spring Guide were not originally issued en masse, they have become commonplace with many commercially available M14-type rifles.
Don’t overestimate the capability that a competition M14 has over a stock M14…
Learn how to pronounce Garand
ОтветитьM14s are select fire, M1As are not
ОтветитьThe Mk14 is far and away my favorite rifle of all time. The AR10 is objectively superior, when properly built and tuned, though.
ОтветитьMy outfit in CTF-116 (USN Riverine Forces based ashore in-country) preferred the M14 in 1971-72. The M16 at the time had a bad reputation for going single shot. We had buckets of 7.62 NATO on hand for some of our other toys so ammo was always plentiful.
ОтветитьMy worst ever jam was on my M-14. The firing pin came out the back of the bolt, and went forward, then stabbed through the trigger mechanism.
ОтветитьGreat vid and a nice introduction to your channel. Sub'd. Happy holidays!
Ответить$3500 for an LRB? What.....😢
ОтветитьDon't just be a man be a ( rifleman )!
ОтветитьIf the rifle doesn't have a selector switch that can change the rate of fire from semiautomatic to fully automatic it's a M1A. An M14 has that selector switch.
Ответитьcut ur hair greaseball. bula......lolololo crap. springfield has a better track record. lrb aint gunna make any diff on target
ОтветитьMilitary version has the bayonet lug, This rifle looks to have as well, but never zoomed in to see it well.
ОтветитьNothing about Fulton Armory? Also, if the gas system is self regulating why do they make adjustable gas plugs for suppression?
ОтветитьThe best off-hand shooting .30 caliber rifle that I have (Don't hate it is an SA, NM with SS barrel + bayonet lug) well, almost as good to shoot as my M-1917. I also have a M-1 Garrand, M-1903, and M-1 Carbine in .30 caliber. It just looks like a military rifle should look.
ОтветитьI can't speak to the modern M14s or M1As but the old ones built by Valley Ordnance in the 80s are great. Many people don't realize that these rifles need LOTS of grease!
ОтветитьIt still was the same fatal flaw. It will fire open breach.
ОтветитьThe m14 is a man,man rifle, you need some weight on you to handle it.
In WW2 the average man weight 160 lb ,in Vietnam the average sorider weight 140 lb ,this is why they went to m16 .
M-14 is a great final iteration of the Garand, but outdated as a battle rifle at time of manufacture.
ОтветитьI love mine but I do find it challenging to shoot well. I'm a newb though
ОтветитьAfter watching this video (and subscribing), I took my LRB Paratrooper (19.5” barrel) and my USMC US Rifle 7.62 (CMP acquired), cradled one in each arm and showed them your review! I was issued the M-14 by USMC in Viet Nam, 1966-67 and I trusted my life to its reliability.
Semper Fi !
Lol , you don't need to clear a house when you have a 308. You clear it from the outside.....only a fool clears a house. You are a walking dead man.
ОтветитьShould not have been replaced so early.
I shot an M1A for years in competition.
Still have it. Great rifle .
I just got an M1a kinda discouraged now 🤕
ОтветитьM14 is NOT for Weak Sucks, it is a Man's Weapon...
Ответитьmaybe you should ask McNamara what he think about it. For weapon designers it is a true failure.
ОтветитьOh yeah it SUCKS, if you're on the Receiving end of it!!! No bullshit....
ОтветитьOne thing I’ve always heard from people was that the M14 needs to be glass bedded to be accurate and if you disassembled it, you’d lose accuracy. I keep hearing of the story of people who disassembled their EBRs and went from a 1 MOA gun to a 3 MOA gun.
However, I’m not sure if that was due to the gun or them just not understanding the platform, since I know a lot of knowledge of the M14 is lost on younger guys like myself who are far more used to ARs. Always had a fascination with the gun since it looks like an M1 Garand, so I always wanted to see if it could still perform like modern DMRs.
Once i get through my hk addiction (hopefully without bankruptcy lol) i plan on getting an m14 clone.
ОтветитьThe EM 2 280 would have been better as a universal rifle the m-14 should have been never been used as a universal rifle it should have been used as a traditional rifle same as the FN FAL in single shot haven these rifles in semi auto was ridiculous. The 280 round was perfect for universal rifles and a better round than the 5.56 45 now
ОтветитьI'm more of M1A loaded kinda guy.
ОтветитьLOVE my ‘Standard’..JUST a basic model too. WHAT I’ve done, voluntarily..NOT because I “had” to, just makes it THAT MUCH BETTER.
ОтветитьStand about 300 yards down range..you’ll definitely think it sucks😂
ОтветитьM14 has a full auto selector switch on it. M1a is the civilian variant and does not.
ОтветитьLRB wants 4k for a rifle, so I see why people are fine with Springfield Armory
ОтветитьThe only people that hate these are the Salty AR fanboys sad the m16 gots it’s ass kicked 😂
ОтветитьOkay, the FN FAL we have at home comment was pretty funny.
ОтветитьI have owned a lot of rifles and the M1A is buy far my favorite of all
Ответить.308win is a 800 yard cartridge
ОтветитьShort answer no long answer there’s better out there obviously
ОтветитьExcellent 👍👍👍👍👍
Ответитьone other thing that ticks me off is shooters who drop the empty mags onto the ground instead of just putting it away when empty. its 1 thing under combat to dump an empty mag onto the ground but not target shooting.
Ответитьthe guy in the video needs to go back to firearm training and learn propper weapons handling.
ОтветитьAnyone who says the M14 SUCKS, has never used the M114. ONE OF the best weapons in history.
ОтветитьI was in the Marine Corps from 1969 to 1976 I was issued the M-14 twice. First time was in boot camp and the other was in barracks duty in the United Kingdom.
ОтветитьNo but you look like a bitch. Maybe ots too much of a man rifle for you kiddo. It was one of the 4 guns my dad carried on him in Vietnam and im still here. My M1A shoots to 1000yrds. How far does your pea shooter go? Come to the mountains and start a fight if you're not a pussy and good luck shooting back
ОтветитьThe stock of the M14 lends to the efficiency of the weapon in hand to hand combat ... try buttstroking an enemy with an adjustable stock.
I was a Marine Rifle Range Instructor at Damneck Rifle Range, Norfolk VA.... never had any problems with the M14... she is a sweet combat weapon. Semper Fi
I fiesta had a M-14, with auto selector in Vietnam, with the Marines. Grants tried to STEAL, BUY or Exchange it for their M-16. Next to the M-1 Grand, IT IS A GOT DAMN GREAT RIFEL.
ОтветитьLoved the M14 in Vietnam 6869
ОтветитьI have never heard of LRB, but I have heard of Fulton Armory and James River. Do you have any experience with them? How highly would you recommend either of those platforms for someone who couldn’t afford a $5,000 rifle?
Ответить3,000 is absolutely fucking insane for a 1960s rifle when you can get VERY good AR10 platforms for under 2,000 with a quality optic. I love how m14s look, but damn thats so absolutely ridiculous. Shit you can get two PSA Saber-10s that come with great upgrades for the price of one of those “match” m14s
