They simply are not very maneuverable, just fast. That makes them great to expedite logistics across a beach, preferably a reasonably protected one.

I think that I was on a hovercraft ferry as a child in the 1960's. I was too young to remember where in the U.S. we were.

Used to love when we were on the beach at camp Pendleton doing training and those big ass LCACS would come landing on the beach. So cool.
Also the AI generated voice is annoying.

Not gonna lie, I kinda want to see the Zuber in action in a FPS game, either as a ''boss fight'' where you're defending a beach and it's constantly arriving to deploy enemy reinforcements, or as two-stage mission where the first part has you getting geared up inside it, maybe fending off some small interceptor craft using the chainguns, and then the second part being where you get deployed alongside a mechanized unit onto a beach to blitz inland.

I often wondered why hovercraft weren't being used in Ukraine to outflank defensive positions through routes that were otherwise thought impassible because of the mud

Regarding the speed of a Hovercraft, there is a phenomena called Hump Speed. The air pressure displaces water beneath it. So as it travels there is a dish underneath. If you move too far ahead you will be climbing the hump. This causes blow out at the rear. The stability issues you mention are mostly caused by this.

Lmao I love this channel and its videos, but sometimes he uses idioms that he clearly does not understand.

“The skirt was a silver bullet for the hovercraft, and in a way it was, it eventually turned out to be its Achilles heel as well.”

Lmfao a “silver bullet” for something IS it’s “Achilles heel”—its one weakness.

One of the few occasions when I have prayed to God to take my life was on a hovercraft crossing the English Channel. even the stewardess said she had never seen someone looking that colour (green). They are definitely not proof against seasickness. Years later I would occasionally catch a small hovercraft from Central to Tuen Mun in Hong Kong - much nicer!

I missed the chance to cross the channel in one of these by only seven years and was very disappointed to find that out by 2007 when I did a great british journey by bike.

People get seasick even on really ferries all the time even if the weather isn't that rough, so no wonder that happens to a smaller craft aswell.

And why is what the hovercraft does considered flying but a ballon, blimp or zeppelin is driving? That's quite confusing.

I saw about 5-6 of what I thought was LCACs, but they seemed alot larger than in this. Anyways they all ripped out of the mouth of Mobile Bay while I was on the point of Fort Morgan. They was insanely loud when all spooled up at once full throttle. So you won't be sneaking up on anyone for sure with those lol. It was awesome to see tho.

How is a vehicle that is supposed to be frictionless, use so much fuel? Sounds like F___ up engineering. Sure enough with today's technology they should be fuel efficient and built more aesthetically pleasing.

As opposed to "mildly unique", or "not very unique" which indicates NOT unique at all. One is both unique and VERY unique, and two of anything are NOT unique. Work this out BEFORE speaking in public.
