Neverwinter Nerf to Band of Air is Bad for New Players

Band of air was a mistake the fact the people can say "OH I can't SOLO the reaper or the ADQ Or even trials anymore " is a joke if you have to carry people how do they learn there is a reason we get crap team m8s in Random Q's helping is teaching players how to play not dragging then though content 😒

We really need a community that helps each other. I ran Reaper 4 times the other day because people couldn't find anyone that would group with them.

I let some lower players borrow mythic enchantments and mythic insignias to get in the reaper's. Just so they are high enough item level to get in to the reaper.

Personally I think it’s way easier to reach end game right now. You can get most your gear from dragon hunts which is dumb in my opinion. Plus the leveling system is super quick and most things in the AH are waaaay cheaper than ever since I’ve been playing. I started less than 2 years ago and I’m end game on my rogue and have been for about 6 months maybe. I never really had help either. I didn’t join a a VOS run til I was 54k IL. And that was before the new mod where IL went up a bunch because of the new enchant system. The trick to reaching end game is to farm events and make AD. Use the marketplace to your advantage and create wealth within the game. Eventually you have enough AD and zen at pretty much all times. You really don’t need to be carried through anything. But I’m a type of player who likes to get good at the game on my own. And then once I feel my character is good enough i start grouping up with alliance and guild mates. I used to do all my grouping with just the random dungeon queues until I decided to try a vos run. And you don’t really have to spend on this game either. I’ve spent around $150 at the start but at that time I didn’t know about the astral diamond exchange. After knowing that it made the game much easier.

I've played over 2 years. Never, ever been able to consistently get a group to do nvos, much less hcvos. I'm glad they are nerfing it, I hope it's nerfed into the ground. All it does, is create problems. People won't let you run with them if you don't have it, but ask for help getting it and they say " oh I'm burnt out maybe another time" absolutely can't even get into a TOMM training without it. BOA has created an Elitist culture, that prevents new , and even some long time players from being able to grow. I gave up on it. I'm very very happy to hear it's canceled. 🙂

Nerfing is never good, and for anyone who thinks it's a fix and not a Nerf. The magnitude was reduced= nerfed. Nothing will ever stop gate keeping. They can change the chase rings but can't fix/ change anything that's helpful.

BOA nerf is excellent for new players and everyone.

Being good hearted and helping others is great but you can't really feel this is a good argument to not "fix" the ring.
You will still be good hearted and help people after the fix.

I don't know, a ton people have been gate keeping content because of of band of air. Not many are as nice as you Gus unfortunately but this had been a big issue.

Thanks for your perspective. From a player with about 10 months experience who has 2 small children and a career as an executive and lot of competing priorities, I appreciate that you don't poop on players that aren't end game. Different players have different amounts of time. For me, it's an outlet and my break from life. But, all that said, I don't search for TOMM or MZC or stuff like that as a 61k healer because I don't feel I'm ready yet. So while players like me appreciate the really strong players, I don't want to be the weakest link either and not carry my weight (as much as I can as a healer anyway). I wish other midgame players went into everything with at least a basic understanding of mechanics and whether or not they are strong enough.

The only thing that changes is trials will be longer/harder to beat because of mechanics and seems all enemies and bosses health were buffed because of boa after release. You won't be able to power through mechanics and phase boss as quick. Makes it harder to carry new/lower players as well. Good luck in tomm/master tiamat/master zariel lol,

I normally solo queue for raq to help new players.I do this bec I know most new players don't get invited in premade groups so I normally enter the way they do. Alot of times I get to join groups that gets stuck in the 2nd boss or last boss of the dungeon. It feels very satisfying to help them. I remember joining a random queue group that got stuck I the 2nd boss. They were already there for 35 mins. We completed the dungeon. And I ended up having 2x more dmg than the guy who has the most damage when I came there. At 1st they were already voting to abandon the dungeon. I dont have BOA.

According to Galactic it had already been nerfed very quickly, ages ago, and it used to be even MORE ridiculously powerful.

Craptrick never act, or fail to act, without some nefarious reason. Remember when Lostmauth set was broken and was on AH for millions and millions? People were buying Zen to convert to AD, just to get it from AH. It didn't just do an extra hit for Weapon Damage on a Crit, it procced a duplicate Crit of everything and made everything Crit again, regardless of if it was an At Will, Encounter or Daily, and it was not just a bonus hit for Weapon Damage, it was a double Crit of whatever caused the Crit mechanic to proc This is why builds ignored Power and went for max possible ArPen and Crit.

It seems like Zen sales and VoS farming had gone down a lot, so now they finally fix it because almost no one is grinding for it anymore. And then we will have some other horribly broken "chase" item next mod.

How are newer players going to be "hurt" by not having a horribly broken ring they've never heard of? You mean you will not help new players anymore?

I insist that my Guild is non-Toxic and non-Elitist and have always helped new players.

Gus i have been watching you for a while now, but I have to say it sounds like you are throwing a fit with saying " now I am not going to because i wont be able to since they took away my ring." but come on seriously.. You can still help new players even in RC. I mean i have ran loads of them with no BOA and it took maybe 5 to 15 minutes longer. Sometimes you have to come together and regoup and have strategy, but the BOA is not the beginning or end of all.. Just sayin . Good luck keep vidz comming :0)

If your willingness to help other people stands and falls with a single item in the whole game, there is either something wrong with you, or the item, or the game. Pick, or suggest other options. :)

If you think it's normal for you to carry like that, that's the problem. Let new players do content appropriate for their level, otherwise they get it twisted.

When I first ran a RADQ with the guild and my dps was an 11th of the first dpser I felt ridiculous and didn't queue back until I got stronger. Every player has different goals and completion may not be important for them. I don't have ToMM completed, not even experienced, heck I didn't even do the last Reaper's Challenger because everyone hid in a corner when they saw no revives. I can still sleep at night. Worse even, having all this stuff completed might disincentivize players from playing.

I’m tank, and yesterday I was invited to a team with 3 80k band of air dps. 23min to finish the reaper. You did in 26min….believe people need to understand is more about mechs than dps check all the content of this game, and explain something could help, not only complain after. Most people don’t think about the group, all time I’ve a max of 3 stack of MC weapons (me healer and 1 dps in the best scenario…)

Eh it's been a plague on the game since it came out, i know at least 10 people who burned out trying to get that ring after playing every night for like 3-4 years prior.

And not only that it was not balanced for all classes. Now it's about the same on a rogue as it was on a ranger pre nerf.
I stopped using mine out of principal on my ranger and i kept up pretty well with everyone except rogues and a few good warlocks.

in-sig-nee-ah-(s) combos for example triple en-li-tend on on- in one group , one en-lite-tend & two regal (i think thats pet damage) due to me playing solo

I haven't had the time to get the band of air, but I agree with helping people get better. Tonight I was in a group that was helping a new player in a random queue get through LoMM. Everyone in the group took turns helping them understand what to do next in the mini bosses. Yes it took longer to run, but we made it. That is the way the game should be played. When I 1st started just after Caturday I had a person who helped me that way and while they no longer play I keep that attitude in every day gaming. I've even given companions, gear, and items that I could have sold for Ad to help them get better. The only thing I ask is that they do the same when they can.

Hey Gus, you are a good boy. You are selfless, you help new players and that does you honor. Unfortunately the BoA nerf was inevitable, I guess. For reasons that everyone knows and I won't be here repeating them. But, as you say, there are tons of bugs in NW that should be fixed and that they seem to ignore .
I play NW on PlayStation, I am a midgamer and I still have a lot to do and learn. I can't stand elitist endgamers, but I see you're not that way. I hope to meet you in game sometime and be able to have some adventures with you.

That's all Cryptic does is take away anything fun that benefits us. Things that don't benefit us or are broken - they either couldn't care less or will sell us a solution on the zen market.

I just comment something similar in another video about pugs so i'm agree, but if you don't play trials like tomm,tiamat don't really need mythic enchants or collars cause those don't make a big diference in scaled content.Also another thing about those ppl who only invite others if they have boa i mean is their choice do that but trust me you don't wanna join them cause most of them are really crappy dps and believe that the ring do everything for them instead of make a good build with just the plus of the ring.

If there were more players like you it would not be an issue, but for every one of you there are 5 others who won't invite a newer player to an easy run because they don't have a band of air and so the dungeon will take 2 minutes longer.

I guess it's a good stand point, they said they would reduce the HP of enemies but I think it will only be for master trials, the thing 0,1% of the game population runs, so yeah not sure it will make things better...

We were all new players at some point, needed help, needed carries, so i can definetly agree with new players taking a hit. This will also result in people being kicked mid run bc their gear looks good, but if their dmg is far below sufficient, probably going to get kicked. Bc we know there will be monster dps not using boa anymore so we can't just assume people not having boa equipped does no damage. Youll find out running with them. Collars are a grind if you grind em, but money can get u mythic collars, money cant get you boa though. So imo boa is a hell of a grind too

yeah facts, the true grind is getting all the important stuff to mythic, still need 3 enchants to mythic and all of the insignias and collars to mythic, and i been playing this for years
