If you don't use "var" and if you have a variable named "barSize" outside the function then it's value will be overridden and set to 600. So using and not using "var" would depend on what you're trying to achieve with your code.

o dont forget to set the name for each var (var name = "Whatever")

var stands for variable theres two kinds one is an integer(numbers) and strings(letters or words) for strings do var = "String";, integer var = 5;
