Nothing quite like giant 12 and 14 cylinder engines of that era, powering these beautiful aircraft. As a huge car and driving enthusiast, and it being my number 1 hobby/ interest.. 3.0L high revving F1 v12’s, Turbocharged inline 6’s,
8L v10’s… all amazing sounds, but these planes sounded even better.

Engine starts up sharp and nicely.

Spinning the prop through will detect hydraulic lock on the bottom 3 cylinders. Hydraulic lock will happen since they were running the preoiler to lube the internals of the Russian engine

That clean startup.. i've seen a russian yak (can't remember the model) having big issues starting up, almost killing the ground crew with its smoke.. not sure if that thing had a problem or not but it was air worth amd used in air shows.. this fw 190 compared is so smooth
