Using a 12700KF ordered a 12900KF.

Weird thing with mine is 2 cores get to 5187ghz other p cores get to 5088ghz. Is that normal? Temps stay around 65*c underload.

You need to real world test with what power users use to actually get work done... WIndows 7 or Linux.

Our IT dept. buys thousands of PC's not based on cpu performance charts, but on which motherboards still have support for Windows XP, NT, and Windows 7 drivers.

I don't think computer buys or the industry really understand, Generation X does not like or want to use Windows 10 or 11 and is pushing back and not buying chips that force them to use Windows 11. (aka, Intel 12th gen or Ryzen).

You may be saying, well, newer is always better so get with the program. Well, what kind of vehicle do you take to work, gasoline piston driven or electric? You might think, ah hah, I drive a Tesla, gotcha... tow hic I would reply... a jet engine is newer tech. Why aren't you driving a jet engine car to work. Or Jet plane. Newer is aways better, right?

Newer can and frequently does go backwards and downhill... it's as true with operating systems is as it is with later released budget variations of flagship cpu's....

Watching this video reminded me GN convinced me to skip the 11900 for the 10900 :p

How about including Microsoft Flight Simulator (a modern game that is frequently CPU limited) in your benchmark suite rather than running mainstream games at yesterday's low graphical settings to illustrate CPU performance.

The R5 5600X is such a beast for the price. $270 vs $740 and it's just 5% behind in Cyberpunk at 1080P Medium, even less at 1440P/4K Ultra or with a GPU bottleneck. Plus, the motherboards are half the price. I'm not upgrading anytime soon. x)

I felt (now and then) when I was making less money (before the minimum wage hike) I was making poorer choices with my hardware buying. Now that I'm making a more livable wage granted with assistance and now that AMD and Intel and Nvidia are showing true competition. I get to revel in being an enthusiast PC builder, and not just keeping up with the trends.

Who spends $700 on a CPU and still games at 1080p? Running at 4k or 1440p you see a much closer race between these two CPUs, and AMDs CPU is one year older. With Win 11 on the horizon and AMD gearing for a 6000 series, it might not be the time to upgrade your CPU.

Has the issue with the i9-12900K and Windows 10 been sorted?

Running cinebench r23 on loop I’m locked @4.9ghz max temp 77c

While gaming it locks @3.8ghz 38c using msi afterburner any ideas I’ve updated bios and only enabled xmp

Yeah but those 2% ers on Steam are the high gamers who shell out the dough for top of the line core i9 12900k. Windows 11 gives you more performance because of the thread detector right? PC Gamer had a review showing the benches on Win11 showed that core i9 12900k will allow Intel to reclaim the throne.

Don't trust test data. Remember intel has been in bed with Microsoft since the start of win11.

I picked up an i912900k with a 3 fan AIO - but my idle temps are about 38c on average and gaming can be up 78c
Does anyone else have temps like these? Any thoughts?
