Really good exercises, thankyou, ever broadening hey!
ОтветитьHi Justin, am I right in thinking, you have to know music to transcribe? A. R😜
ОтветитьHmm, well I find Justin's advice and practice regiment useful, but for this lesson - it strikes me that these two guys are not in sync - Justin seems to be overwhelming Lee. Justin is very excited and knows all the steps Lee has to do to improve, Lee is tired and I would guess he's thinking that he may not have time for all of that. Its good material, but if that was the teacher and the student, the teacher should probably pick up on the vibe and not push so hard. This isn't med school.
ОтветитьSo is this the last of the private lessons?
ОтветитьDo More! This is useful stuff fot me too! I love Lee's honesty and effort despite the hectic life he has. And Justin is a great teacher! Cheers!
ОтветитьThis "Instead of learning what every single note sounds good relative to another note over many many years of noodling on the guitar, there is a short cut - scales" really opened my eyes for learning scales
ОтветитьI really enjoyed these! It's been over a month now since the last one, is Lee still going to be taking lessons?!?!?! If not maybe you can find someone else that you could use for these? I think it really helps people who are taking lessons set realistic expectations along with understanding that you must put in the work to get something out of it. Please bring these back or hopefully find another student you can use for these. Extremely valuable!
ОтветитьWhen is part 7 coming online? We are so waiting for it!
ОтветитьSHOCKED!!!!Justin not loving Robert Johnson??? Blown away. Justin, you need to go deep into Johnson. As an excercise try to learn an RJ song note for note, both vocals and guitar. Put his mp3 on a track in your daw and jam with johnson. It's not untill you do that excercise, through repetition, and listening over and over 100 or 1000s times and realise how hard that is to do...how hard it is to play and emulate RJ...then and only then, will the real enjoyment come. You will not hear it as scratchy old recording.... Everything else will become fluff once true enlightainment has been achieved :)
ОтветитьAargh, those rolling scales. Trying to do pattern 2 and rolling from A to E strings with the little finger is impossible.
ОтветитьHang in there Lee! I know what it's like to run a business and (try to) have a hobby, and sometimes finding an hour here or there is difficult. But you have to want it in order to find the time. For me it meant getting up extra early (like 4:00 am) and concentrating on playing uninterrupted for at least an hour. The other thing you can do is jam with other players and apply what you're learning. Don't forget that it's okay to make mistakes, but that's how you learn. You're surrounded by some wonderfully talented players (Peter, Rob, Rabea) that I'm sure would love to jam with you. While you're jamming, don't get hung up on the theory part; just play what feels natural, and the all the hard work will eventually start to show in your solos and licks.
ОтветитьThey touched all too briefly on something that affects so many people, and is the biggest issue for me, personally, by far: How to find the time to work on your craft when you've got a job, wife and (especially) kids. All the technique, theory, transcriptions, etc., etc. are nothing compared to the battle of finding quality practice time, consistently. If anyone out there has some tips or advice, I'm all ears.
ОтветитьNever mind, I know what it is now, gosh! I bought this album when I was fifteen in 1967 I think, then got sidetracked by the blues of Santana and havent listened to it in 45 years.
ОтветитьWhat album are you talking about?
ОтветитьIs it just me or does it look like they've masked over the Suhr logo on the Strat Lee is playing. If that's the case, that's odd... Maybe violates a sponsorship or something.
The other odd things is to see the black nut dampening thingamajigger on Justin's Suhr guitars. John Suhr must cringe every time he sees that.
Love that target note in the Am up the neck Justin! That's a little revelation, cheers!
ОтветитьPlease help...how in fingerstyle the melody part is taken out ?by the ear all over the fret board or by using scales in fingerstyle?
Please reply
I m beginner want to be fingerstyle player . I stuck in here
lee needs to relax, i feel hes to tense
ОтветитьI'm doing Justin's music theory lessons, and i must say, there the most painless way to get good at theory i have discovered so far. I'm building confidence one lesson at a time, i love it. Thanks Justin for making this available at such a low cost.
ОтветитьLee's little wing sounds different rhytmically, but cool.
Ответитьi just practised the pentatonic from the root notes. omg! why didnt my teacher tell me that years ago? best channel!
ОтветитьDerek & The Dominos Live at The Fillmore is my favorite Clapton record to jam along. Got to Get Better in a Little While is one right up Lee's alley. Have You Ever Loved A Woman is a slow blues cover with a lot of great licks to steal.
ОтветитьThese videos are awesome. I am in the process of learning guitar again. Started playing as a teen. Played in some bands but never really felt accomplished (never took any lessons). Drifted away from it for a long time and just picked back up again at 55. Started working my way through Justin's beginner course (knew most of it but still picked up a gem here and there) and am working into intermediate level. These videos are spot on for where I am at. More advanced than my current level but showing the path ahead. Awesome! I hope to take live lessons with a teacher as good as Justin someday!
ОтветитьHey Justin! I just got my guitar a few weeks ago and I'm working through your beginners course and I'm looking forward to getting to the intermediate course. I was wondering if you would ever consider creating an advanced course? Just wondering, keep up your great content
ОтветитьI can’t wait to see how Lee’s playing has improved in another 6 months or so. Can we just skip to June 2019 right now? :) Lee, you’re learning some great stuff. Keep it up!
ОтветитьI wonder what total cost is to take lessons from Justin or any good teacher. Like how much would you spend to go from noob to "quite good". (Cost per lesson)x(How many lessons needed to achieve "good" player status).
Subjective of course but I mean if you wanna start playing guitar and start taking lessons how much you gonna spend over time on just the lessons only.
Anyone got a guesstimate?
I learnt so much in this lesson. Especially the roll off exercise and the chord targeting in little wing. Thanks a lot Justin your a great teacher!
ОтветитьLee, you mention that you like BB King- a lot of his best licks live in and around position 3. Get yer Greeny on and nick them all! There’s gold in them hills!
ОтветитьThere’s a harmonica player called R. J. Mischo that plays more traditional sounding stuff. And Champion Jack Dupree does some traditional but rockin’ blues piano. My answer would be go to a blues jam and watch/listen. People tend to stick to I IV V etc but it’s much easier to get into the music when it’s live. But I live in Texas where blues jams happen often and in many places. Cheers to you both (howdy in Texan)! Thanks for the vids!
ОтветитьWow, this is great.
Such a great lesson. I have to catch up on previous ones
Thank you Lee and Justin. Lee, I really respect that you're willing to let the whole world eavesdrop on your lessons, warts and all. That's probably not an entirely comfortable place to be. Thank you. And Justin, - focused guidance, and a well-structured approach to the lesson. I particularly respect the way you make a point of explaining WHY something is important or useful. Loved this video. Thank you both again.
ОтветитьI love this series. I’ve learned quite a bit. I’m at about the same level as Captain but I missed where we added the minor pentatonic shapes. I thought you were working through major scale positions. And in this lesson you added all positions of the minor pentatonic.
ОтветитьLee is the worst student ever! But I love that he's starting to get it.
ОтветитьLee is doing amazing !
ОтветитьSomething about this series really appeals to me. I look forward to each and everyone.
ОтветитьHow come you played pattern 5 below the root?
ОтветитьJustin, as a beginner I find these lessons interesting as things to come for me.
Have you ever considered having lessons like this for a beginner? I think this would be very beneficial for many.
Justin is such a gifted teacher. The part towards the end of targeting chord notes in amongst the minor pentatonic is exactly what Lee has needed all along.
ОтветитьLee Lee King
ОтветитьI really hope he sticks with lessons in the new year! It will be everything he ever wanted of himself should he persevere
ОтветитьI find it really awkward. Both seem unable to look each other in the eye. Lee struggles to get a sentence out in one breath. Uncomfortable viewing for me.
Ответитьhow come all the old blues guys are kings? is there a connection or just coincidence?
ОтветитьWow he did a really great job of little wing, everything you’ve taught him is showing up there. Congrats Justin, I imagine your ninja training is helping you stay calm with this grasshopper
ОтветитьJustin, your iPad app for naming the notes is simple and well done. Find the note is getting easier, name the note, ummmm, not so much... quiz 1 and 2, um, yeah..... :-)
ОтветитьThank you for sharing this.
ОтветитьThis lesson is Technically Great and informative to me! Thank you @JustinGuitar
ОтветитьThe Captain has very good right hand action, if i'ts not practiced then he's a natural!
Ответить
