VPN's won't fix your privacy. Blocking trackers, avoiding services, hiding identifiers and using common sense will.

VPN are only good for getting pass geofencing. so you can watch UK and other countries shows on Kodi or other streaming apps.

if you live in a country where you do not trust your government or isp, then there are cases where you will trust certain vpns MORE. This is a valid use for a VPN - not for anonymity, more about changing you who want to trust as your 'exit node'. For this reason I am a die hard vpn user. I don't expect it to be anonymous, but in this country they even block reddit - it's valid to trust your vpn more.

You makes plenty of sense. However, for some kind of people, VPN is the only way to go and it works for them. They don't really care about not being tracked. They care about not being trained by certain groups and they totally trust the big corporate names.

I use a VPN so my ISP cant spy on my & also so I have a stable & consistent IP address when traveling so my bank doesn't lock me out of my account.

For my purposes I think it's quite good. I am always in visiting family on other cities & their coming here, so having the same IP address no matter where I am is great otherwise Facebook will lock put your ad account or Amazon will shut down your seller account, it's a risk to business operations if I'm not using a VPN.

But mainly, screw ISP spying, I trust my VPN A LOT more than I trust my ISP. I know for the fact the ISP is spying for both the government & selling data to advertisers. The WORST case with a VPN is that their doing the same thing, I have NOTHING to lose from a security & privacy standpoint if I decide to use a VPN. So I'm gonna continue using one.

I mean, I kind of have to disagree. Vpn's work as long as you have a little bit of knowledge of how to use them.

so what is the solution? is it enough to just use adblocker and use quad9 as dns provider? (and also not using google, facebook etc)
