über Alles - Chapter I

The Underdog's Bite

Few deaths have been more consequent throughout History as the death of King Ladislaus III of Poland; with the fates of Poland, Lithuania, Hungary and Croatia unbound, Europe lost their Eastern bulwark against the Turk waking ogre. As France and England are still settling scores and Iberia is still embroiled in the last stretch of the Reconquista, the defence of Christiendom seems to fall on the shoulders of the Archduke of Austria, Emperor by name to a could-be powerful alliance of nations but, alas, factions and self-interest still plague the Holy Roman Empire. However, way up North, a new power, fueled by a devouring ambition, might yet rise...

Friedrich II of Brandeburg saw Poland's fate as an opportunity; as Danemark struggled to keep the Kalmar union ans Bohemia's interest turned to the South, the only regional power left was a crumbling Teutonic Order.
Dominance was yet to be established and, to do so, the von Hohenzollern would have to move quickly. Long discussions were held between the Prince and Friderich Wilhelm Briesen, the newly appointed general, but, in the end, an old rival would be picked to be made an exemple of: on January 3, 1445, Brandeburg attacked Rostock and their pet, Dietmarschen. With Briesen leading the main force agaisnt Rostock, the County's heir, Albrecht Achilles, was sent to pacify Dietmarschen. One year and a half later, with the defeat of Rostock on April 27, 1446, a message was sent to Brandeburg's neighbors: they would have to deal with a new player in the game of thrones.

in early 1446, the divorce between Lithuania and the Polish Crown was enacted with the coronation of a local noble, which further weakened the would-have-been Commonwealth. Later in July, it was the Teuton's downfall that was confirmed as the Ochmeister accepted Friedrich II's offer to buy back Neumark.
With their potential rival falling and their lands reuinted, it was time to consolidate the County's diplomacy; the alliance with the Archduchy was key as Brandeburg could not afford the Emperor seeing them as a threat. But, on the other hand, having sealed alliances with the Palatinate (1444) and Trier (1446), the County was counting the days before revealing its imperial ambitions...

The sword would have to speak before the quill however; Brandeburg needed to grow further still and, as no great power could rise without some access to the sea, the County would have to get rid of an arrogant Wolgast, who's coasts cut Brandeburg from the Baltic.
On November 2, 1446, after six mere months of peace, the County went to war agais, with Trier at its side, facing the joint forces of Wolgast, Saxe-Lauenburg and Dietmarschen. After a textbook opening due to cunning manoeuvres, the Brandeburgian forces ended chewing more than they could bite: Albrecht Achilles's forces were caught by the foes and three thousand mercenaries paid the price with their lives in the fields of Lüneburg. This defeat would show the limits of mercenary armies and is nowadays seen as key-factor in Brandeburg's professional army's establishement.
On December 2, 1448, after a lenghty siege, Rostock fell and was wiped for the maps, Saxe-Lauenburg force to swear vassalage to the von Hohenzollern and Dietmarschen, yet again, pacified.

The rising power of Brandeburg quickly eclipsed its rivals' and inspired an appetite for conquest amongst the nobility; new targets of expansion were to be found, dominance over Northern Germany was to be established, the Baltic had to be controled,...
The Lithuanian alliance of 1449 following the royal marriage in 1446 confirmed Brandeburg's promotion. And the diplomatic escalade with Poland confirmed its future path of expansion.

Soon, they would feel

I am saying this late, while I played Prussia multiple times in the new patch and tried to monopolize on the new rewards from the mt. I really failed to do anything outstanding if I’m being honest. I am curious if you will reveal anything I missed or just did not really think about

not trying to backseat. What I found and later Red Hawk confirmed in his video is that the northgerman nations are easy to vassalize and doesn´t cause AE. Just my preference in EU4 to cause no AE in the HRE if possible

They really nerfed the crap out of Prussian Monarchy and militarization in 1.35 in general. The very rapid decay of militarization in this new update combined with the already high governing capacity decrease that these governments have already makes these governments pretty subpar in my opinion. You'd be better off going with the vanilla Autocracy government reform instead of Prussian Monarchy.

One of the best things about Chewy’s channel is that he plays to have fun and it makes for better content.

Sure he doesn’t minmax but if you want that you can go to other channels.

His is just pure fun and that’s really all we need.

Keep up the good work man!
