"Manila" is just one of 16 cities that comprise "Metro Manila" which, in turn, is the old but still popular name of the National Capital Region (NCR). Makati, Taguig, Pasay ... these are all cities on their own that are also part of Metro Manila. I rarely encounter "Greater Manila Area" but you did pointed that out correctly. Thank you!
We just want foreigners to learn our correct geography. We do not want foreigners to have misunderstanding with airport taxi drivers for telling them "Manila" when they actually wanted to be in a totally different city in Metro Manila.

Fyi, BGC is NOT a city. It's a relatively new neighborhood in the actual city of Taguig that for years was once an army base. And, Makati is not as you call it, "a lesser modern city" than BGC. Makati is an actual city (unlike BGC) but it is modern. It was once (like most of the cities in the greater Manila region) part of Rizal province until the mid-1970s. Hence, there are business establishments and residences that have been there for decades. Unlike BGC, which was once an army base, didn't have to contend with any of those when it was developed. So, it looks "more modern" in your eyes.

This is a pretty good introductory video for visitors to Manila. I’m sure everyone heads out to the more famous beaches like Palawan and Boracay, but these sites are great for a first day after arrival settling in and last day before flying out.

Anyone who has ever visited Old San Juan, Puerto Rico will be very disappointed in Intramuros. With the exception of a couple of historic churches and a few small elements of Fort Santiago there is nothing worth seeing in Intramuros. Yes, I am aware of the history of destruction during WW2, but that was 80 years ago. That is no excuse for its current appearance and lack of appeal....

You forgot to checkout Starbucks Tagaytay Hiraya. Entertainment City is also a great place to visit. You have Okada, Solaire, City Of Dreams etc... Also Newport in front of Terminal 3 Airport. Okura Hotel is the best hotel next is Sheraton in that area.

besides Intramuros try to visit in Manila , the Paco Park n Cemetery built by the Dominican friars in 1807 n now a recreational garden. The inner walls of the circular garden still houses the marble crypt markers that still bears the family names of remains of the Spanish colonial elite. This is also the initial place where the national hero Rizal was first buried n hidden from the Spaniards so that his remains will not be taken by the Spanish authorities. Also inside the Park is the Chapel of St. Pancrasius, now a popular wedding venue because of its beautiful background...

Robinson's has a weird layout as its an old mall that was extended, the entrance you went to is Midtown and is the newer side of the mall,
Grew up around that area, and I believe the main entrance was where Jollibee used to be, on top of Jollibee it used to be movie cinemas, and the bowling alley i think is still there?

Before i ever started coming to the Philippines everyone told me to get out of Manila. I actually like Manila. There's a lot of activity in Manila which I like. Excellent food from many origins. The nightlife is amazing. A lot of good music....
