Can that laptop edit pro res raw (full frame) with color correction, transition effects, without drop frames in preview?
ОтветитьHey! Great video thank you!
I am a video creator and currently using a iPad Pro 12.9 which has 6 gb of ram.
I am currently editing on luma fusion and I never had an issue with playback or rendering.
I am looking to upgrade to a mbp m1 16” with 16gb ram and 1tb ssd.
Do you think I will have any issues with video editing? I know it sounds silly from the device I come from but I feel when spending this much you want the best experience possible right?
(My video projects are simple no huge editing or effects used)
Thank you 😊
That was a refreshing no bs video 😄Have you tested how it handles AE ?
ОтветитьBro, would I be okay with M1 Pro 14 base model for editing 4K 60 2 hour long videos?
Thanks
Think about it, if I can edit 4k 10 bit 4 2 2 on the M1 MBA then this base 14 would be even better! But I know how most of us are haha
ОтветитьHow is your swap usage?
When using video editing programs?
I legit just copped a base M1 Pro 14” less than a week before they dropped the new M2 joints, and im still pumped I got this. When new stuff comes out, you get that weird FoMo vibe, but seeing how this shreds through the work you do with it, I’m not sweating it at all. My work is nowhere near as heavy as yours. I know im seeing this later, but still a great video.
ОтветитьThis makes me feel like I'm not using my 2016 MacBook Pro to its full potential...
Ответитьhow about 8k timeline, can base m1pro smoothly replay?
ОтветитьThe M1 air with 16gb ram and 512 gb ssd costs me around 1500 Euros, the M2 Air with the same config costs almost 2000 Euros just the same as the 14 M1 pro. I have started video editing as a hobby and currently use my desktop pc (R5 5600x, 3080, 32gb ram) for that but I want something as well for the go since I am often on the go. Which model would you recommend me? I want to keep the device at least for 5 yrs.
ОтветитьI just got the same exact model and config. Loving it so far, one month later. It’s truly incredible how powerful these things are. Apple nailed it. I have been a windows user my whole life, and still keep my Dell Latitude 7280 around for some niche things, but now can confidently say I am a full Apple
user now. I’ve been considering it for years, but finally made the leap. I don’t ever see myself going back to Windows full time.
Does 512gb storage sufficient as a professional like you? I’m considering buying a base model too.
ОтветитьThanks for the great review! Which color preset do you use for creating content (photo/video) on the web? Probably something based on sRGB, I suppose?
ОтветитьGreat review. Insane laptop. Subscribed 👍🏻🇬🇧
ОтветитьNice and structured review man, straight to the point and you really pushed the system, thanks. Did it ever heat up during these tests?
ОтветитьThis is just what I was looking for. Thanks. Just ordered my almost base 14. Had to get the 1tb hard drive.
ОтветитьHi Patrick! Can we edit an entire feature film (2 hours) in this? (Camera BMPCC 4K or iPhone 13 pro)
ОтветитьHow is it with 4k120p? The m1 chip was slow when I applied color grading or transitions.
Ответитьare these both Base models ?
i have just orded a 14 inch base model, but that was before i saw it has 8 cores and the 16 has 10 cores... and im rly struggling mentaly now hahaha. it is my first mac, and i rly wanna invenst in a PC thats last long, and i rly want to get something good. i will use my pc for pic edeting, school, and some leage of legends on free time. and mby vid fixing in the future. but i rly dont want to get a bad machine or less for money... i now i dont need the BIGGEST, but is the 14 inc base model good enough... ?
The intro alone is great
ОтветитьI run photoshop and final cut in the same time and have to switch back and fourth how does that perform! Just ordered the ro 16gb sooooooo stocked
ОтветитьIs 16GB enough for video editing? I never owned a Mac computer, and for my PC I have 32GB, but I have heard for those Mac's 16 could be enough. I am using Davinci Resolve and usually 4K 10 Bit footage.
Thanks for your reply in advance!
Great video! Straight to the point, honest, true and skillful (in knowledge and production)
ОтветитьExcellent video. For video editing, in my case an external monitor of 27" or more would be necessary. Have you already tried one?
ОтветитьGreat video patrick im currently upgrading from the 2014 macbook pro to the 16 inch with 32 ram and 2 tb ssd which is all i need !! not a lot of people are showing these types of comparisosn i would love to see how 1hr 4k 60fps video handles in the timeline i usually work with editing gaming videos and mashups
ОтветитьCan you speak to any experience using titles, effects or plugins? Multiple streams is nice but I can cripple my loaded 2020 5k iMac when using a couple MotionVFX plugins. And that when using 4K proxies. I want to save some cash and get the M1 pro over the max, but timeline performance is super important, much more than render or export times. Thanks.

ОтветитьCan it smoothly edit 8k footage?
ОтветитьI'm hearing this a lot about the base model, it's a great machine.
ОтветитьGreat vid. I just got this and glad to see your test here.
ОтветитьHello mate great vid! how would you think this laptop would do under fair heavy colour grading? thanks
ОтветитьGreat video! Just what I needed to see! Thanks! ALSO JUST SUBBED Because of the poo joke LMFAO
Ответитьit looked like frames were dropping on the pro res raw playback like the play head and time
code skipping
can you try testing the same way a normal M! mac, like the air ?
ОтветитьBut what about exporting in HEVC? Because is on that that most computer struggle
ОтветитьBut what about exporting in HEVC and not in ProRes?
Ответитьthis is the video I was looking for! I need to upgrade from my old 2013 i7 maxed up imac that is fine for simple HD but no 4k and it takes forever to export! I'm glad Apple finally got rid of Intel...I want to wait for a new imac 27" or 32" or whatever it is with the M1pro chip but that may not happen til late 2022...so this 14" M1pro with 16gb ram might be the ticket...I considered the Mac Mini M1...I shoot with an a7iii and a a6400 and sometimes a Canon 90D...nothing too heavy...and I don't see a RED camera in my future...the only thing is that I use Premiere Pro mostly...I know FCPX has been optimized for M1/pro/max chips but I hope Adobe catches up. Any thoughts? I also wonder how will this 14" work in a clamshell mode...I really edit from home mostly and I would connect a nice 4k monitor to it. I really cannot afford a more expensive machine...I can't imagine how much faster a fully specd 14" M1max will be! I don't think I need that...
ОтветитьPlease don’t rest your phone on the MacBook screen like that haha. The camera lenses can actually scratch the screen! Trust me!
ОтветитьThank you for the continued help with tech purchasing decisions. This will be the third video you’ve release that helped me with hard decisions. Again, thank you!
ОтветитьRunning Da Vinci Resolve, with 3D animations, some effects and colour grading, in 4 K , would I need 16 gb or 32 gb?
ОтветитьI'm not in my house
ОтветитьGreat job 🔥🔥🔥
ОтветитьA video on min specs required for photoshop and lightroom would be very well appreciated!
ОтветитьDid the fans go crazy?
ОтветитьWhy does everyone make the base model out to be like it’s nothing? It’s basically the middle model and it’s a beast. I’ve had it 4 days now and it’s crazy.
ОтветитьOnce in a while there are revolutionary, not just evolutionary, changes in technology. With the combination of power and energy efficiency I think the M1 was one of those revolutionary changes. And I think that for the vast majority of us the original M1 would be more than sufficient for many years.
ОтветитьThis is it. This is the video that made me realize I was insane for thinking I “needed” an M1 Max.
I don’t know how to even thank you for saving me so much money hahaha
Thanks for making this. As others have said, most creators are focusing on the maxed out model which is probably not necessary for the majority of users. I'd love to see some Premiere stress tests (and After Effects if you're into it). Also, now that you've installed everything you need on the machine, how's the hard drive space? My 2018 MBP has 512GB of hard drive and I'm constantly running out of hard drive space.
