I’m so enchanted by this car design. My favourite of almost all cars.

My 2005 Lexus had a touch screen right there where the air-con controls are within a short-person's arm distance - right there to be touched! - Mazda has TSDS: Touch-screen derangement syndrome.

My mazda6 2014 has rain sensing wipers, radar cruise, blindspot monitoring, heated seats, 2 person memory seats. Really great deal for back then.

Such an underrated car and I wish Mazda would have much more success with it sales-wise. I would get this over the VAG cars in same segment - always.

To call this facelift "minor" is a huge understatement. It looks the same. They could've at least swapped out the ugly black rims...

I think touch screens are over rated so the wheel controller makes it more luxurious for me like higher end cars like audis etc.

Sadly I don't think we'll see the AWD turbo version here. Mazda maybe be the second biggest car manufacturer in terms of sales here but it would be a niche market.

Thanks for the great review! I am the 5% that got 2016 manual astina new in 2016! But I am going for the 2024 again. I read there's remote start but you brothers did not mention it, do you know if this will be available in Oz? Thanks.

I'm not loving the halogen daytime running lights. That's a very strange idea to me. Those are bound to burn-out quickly. I can't imagine that this same design is coming to the US version (but we'll see).

Until it starts to make noises and fall apart and your windows don’t work and you’re a pillow covers fall off after you pick it the car up or all the sensors stop working

you probably get the Skyactiv X which makes Mazda 3 attractive. In Canada we dont get that and Mazda 3 is less efficient and also provides less space so its sort of DOA for most families

Looks and feels premium, drives great too. Unfortunately the tight rear seats and the tiny boot kill it for me.

looks nice but toyota is well ahead of Mazda in certain areas .. like a sos button when you have a accident with gps tracking yeah its a subscription service but that's most cars these days😉😉Toyota is a capped price service at $245 each 15k service until 75k
Mazda is 10k intervals n goes up and down depending on service between $341 and $388 depends on what service is due and what extras need to be replaced like brake fluid cabin filter etc at extra cost

You guys are not telling potential buyers the TRUTH! I dont own a turbo version but this 2.5L aspired engine is a waste and a polluter. Very lazy automatic gearbox matted with a decent highly commpressed powerful engine 2.5L hence you got youself a very lazy car which doesnt put a smile on your face in your daily city traffics. The car is lack of power at bottom end and fakely screaming at top end but still it doesnt go that fast when it instantly hits the redline at gear 1 or 2 😢. So lack of power at bottom and lack of power at top end due to the shitty automatic gearbox which mostly doesnt understand the input throttle. Dont up shift when need and dont down shift when you need . It s all over the place with the self shifting. It s a nightmare daily driving this car in urban area due to high fuel consumption. This car is only good for country driving due to its excellent body control and grip, great rolling acceleration and excellent steering and very good freeway fuel consumption. I dont recommend this car new customers and hope they dont sell more of these bad engineering cars😢

Loved everything about this generation except the brakes... they're horrible! Need to always put a lot more force on the brake pedal than you should and still feels like the car won't stop within the distance you'd expect it to stop. One of the worst in this regard which is a shame.

I'm actually looking at buying a demo 2023 Mazda from a Mazda dealership near where I live, except the car has me very confused as to what it is. G25 Evolve Sp, exactly like this one here but 2023, except it has a lot of these "facelift" upgrades mentioned in this car you're reviewing. Wireless charging pad, USB-C charging ports in the arm rest and I think wireless Apple Carplay/Android Auto, just no touchscreen for the 10.25 inch display... I think. I am so confused, I don't think any other 2023 G25 has these but this one that I'm going to buy does.

He Mazda 2.5 4 Pot matched to that 6 speed auto is by far the most reliable engine - transmission duet on the planet. From personal experience you can scrub virtually all comparative offerings from all of VW, Audi and Mercedes's and any Mazda will surpass the German marques in terms of driver satisfaction, reliability, price retention and overall quality. Mazda in my humble experience outperformed all other marques in terms of the appeal of its models for the past 2 decades.

I’ve owned my manual Astina hatch for 4yrs now and I still love throwing the gears. What a shame Mazda didn’t offering atleast one grade with a manual. The 2.5ltr has plenty of punch and it’s fuel economy for a non turbo/hybrid is outstanding. I just did a trip from Orange to Port Macquarie and returned 5.6L/km and got 748ks from the 51L tank. Great review guys and I love the humour in your delivery.

In order to get the same option in a Mazda 3 that you get in a Corolla you would have to pay extra 7k tho.
