love your videos. I am from Russia. Keep doing it. Thank you
ОтветитьThe Roman legions and English warbands could have saved so many of their troops by ... NVM, it was much funnier in my head then seeing it written on the screen. Anyway, another good video Tod.
ОтветитьDude is hellish strong 👏
Ответитьtwo of the best people in their field testing each others field, amazing
ОтветитьFeels like I'm seeing a professional athlete discover his new sport.
ОтветитьJoe, awesome! Went and tried it on my 60# longbow, and your body position and technique really helped. Michael, also great. Showed this to my friend who is a throwing coach at a local college, she got very excited about your warmup drills lol
ОтветитьBrilliant
ОтветитьExperts still learning stuff. Amazing.
ОтветитьWe need a slingshot exper to join the club!
ОтветитьSo, with spear throwing you become the bow. So fun how fysics works and translates between mediums.
ОтветитьPhysiotherapist here, getting flashbacks to GIRD-patients watching the prep for throwing. For everybody who wants to try this at home, please do not forget that in order to power the throw you need strong muscles, which these athletes have. Think obliques, the whole kinetic chain. Try sitting up from lying on your back, throwing a ball horizontally/diagonally, etc. Please use common sense and ask a professional for some individual advice. Those are athletes whose bodies are used to handling these forces. Yours is probably not.
ОтветитьThis is a brilliant idea, thanks for sharing this.
ОтветитьCould this be more awesome?
ОтветитьI have to say after 30 something years of shooting arrows and throwing spears. I learned more in 30 minutes. Awesome one of the best videos i have seen
ОтветитьHell yeah, the return of Michael!!! He is my favorite broccoli head I must admit.
ОтветитьTwo old dudes chickenhawking like mad
ОтветитьDude is a fantastic archer holy.
ОтветитьFantastic
ОтветитьThat's the episode I didn't know I was waiting for. 😅
ОтветитьSo I pull my 75lb bow (osage) reasonably well while my 100lb bow I just gaze at forlornly and think, 'one day'. Now I realise that I've been doing it mostly wrong. You can pick up a few things from watching Joe but so much more when he goes through it and explains it step by step.
ОтветитьVery impressed with the javelin throwers archery there. As a very competent compound shooter I can safely say I couldn’t do that!
ОтветитьWhat this really highlights is how much BS those claims of "you have to train with a bow from childhood" really are. Here you have someone who has never shot a bow before, using somewhat sketchy technique (because your technique is going to be like that if this is your first time using it) and still being able to use a 115 lbs bow. Sure, he is pretty strong because he's an athlete - but he's an athlete in a mostly unrelated discipline, and you can get pretty strong doing things like, say, manual labor. Not like there was a shortage of dudes doing manual labor in the Middle Ages.
Ответитьtwo masters share their experience to each other. i need this. who teach me how to make money. i can teach them how to waste time when boring
ОтветитьWhenever i see or hear the phrase "warbow", my back hurts a little
Ответитьa person who always puts all weight on back foot puts all weight on front foot. a person who always puts all weight on front foot puts all weight on back foot. 😅
ОтветитьI see Michael's career as a top trainer
ОтветитьI clicked this so fast when I saw who’s doing what in the thumbnail 😂
ОтветитьSuper important video
ОтветитьWatching them made me realize that olympic archery is different from shooting a warbow because it evolved for accuracy. Whereas warbow and javelin is more similar because they are both evolved for getting the greatest range out of their projectiles.
ОтветитьLearning technique from masters, absolutely wonderful experience. Now to put it to use.
ОтветитьThank you Tod, Joe & Michael. That was excellent. Great insight into the extreme forms of each discipline, both seeking to maximise performance. Bought a proper javelin recently, but as an overweight, over 60 year old, getting the confidence to give it a go somewhere harmless has been deterring me. Always loved making & throwing "spears" from straight branches in my youth & watching the javelin at athletics/Olympics(When I occasionally catch it as it's hardly ever given an exact time it will be covered on TV, so very hit & miss; usually missing it.
Michael did brilliantly going from "0" to a 115lb bow in a few arrows under Joe's expert instruction, being suoer-fit & strong. Careful it may mislead others that similar results can be acheived safely so quickly. Wonder if Michael had any strains/soreness the next day after such a severe working of unused muscles?
best living history channel around!!
Ответить👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
ОтветитьWhat, no atlatl?
ОтветитьYou're being shadowbanned. If I click on anybody else's channel, I go right to their content. With yours, when I click it pulls up other creators content and I have to do a second click to "view channel". Dunno what's up here but I thought I'd let you know.
ОтветитьGreat video really enjoyed the demonstrations from both guys.
ОтветитьThat was awesome. Not only are both excellent athletes, but they both have really mastered the techniques of their respective sports and did a great job in teaching that to each other.
Come the zombie apocalypse in want these 2 training my armies while Shad builds us a castle. 😊
What really fascinated me in this video, is that apparently for Javelin throws, your whole body becomes the bow, to throw the spear.
The way he explained it - very excellent by the way - your body, from the toe to the end of your hand, becomes the string under tension, and with your other leg and the rest of your body you basically mimic the bow, that's accelerating the string, to give it more zing.
Really fascinating.
Fantastic idea getting these guys together to teach each other! Awesome!
ОтветитьNow you just need an expert slinger and you all be set!
Ответитьgood stuff, Joe picks things up quick!
ОтветитьFantastic vid! This is so cool!
ОтветитьAs in the past, a posh boy..
ОтветитьCoachability is a skill in itself
ОтветитьFantastic coaching on each side.
ОтветитьDamn, these elite athletes! Took me close to 2 years to build to 115lb, this guy does it on his first day haha.
Legend!
