Hi there. Thanks for your video.

I am a nest newbie after replacing my boiler.

I know how to do an and off at the moment but struggling with making a time table where it goes on at 7 till around ten. Then eco till 4. Then heat till 2300 and then off for the night.

Any help from anyone would be appreciated! My previous boiler was 24 yrs old and it only had an on or off so this is all new to me! 😂

We have a water tank, not a combi boiler. Pulling my hair out with Nest doing it’s own thing heating the water. I have cleared all schedules and put learning schedule to off as I prefer to give the water a 30 minute boost when I need it. However it has a habit of randomly coming on, even though my nest says the water is off, so I cannot switch it off on the app. I put it on for 30 mins last night at 22.30 for 30 mins but it came on itself at 02.15 the next morning. I have to manually switch the nest off from the mains to stop it. There’s no particular pattern to when this happens but it’s usually 2-3 times a week. We’ve even been away for two weeks with the water switched to off, yet the water is hot when we come home so we know it’s switching itself on. It’s costing me money and not saving me anything.

Great video, thanks. I have the issue that every time I adjust the thermostat or the app it turns the heating off and I have to hit the big white button on the the panel it communicates with. Any idea why?

Be warned, Looks super cool but is not that smart, in fact it is very stupid and when you notice suddenly you have a huge bill like I did twice already, I spend much more these days then when I had the basic on/off timer

So my questions are as follows:

1. I've set a schedule to come on and it was well over the room temperature but the thermostat didn't come on?
2. What happens after the time has passed, how do I set it to go off?
3. I've had it 1 year now and the auto schedule has not set up anytimes for me should I have expected this?

Hi, I’ve read through so many comments but looks like I’m the only one with such an issue. So the Nest controls both heating and hot water. I set my hot water schedule for when I’m most likely to shower etc. but does this mean every time I want to wash my hands (with warm water) and if it’s outside the hot water schedule I will only have cold water? That can’t be right can it?

Many thanks for the video, Charlie. It was really useful. Just wondered if you could help me work out why the heating is firing up in the middle of the night. I've switched off the auto learning which I thought could be the problem. And I've only got a couple of settings on every day - all the same - on at 7am, off at 9.30pm. Any advice on what to check would be much appreciated. Thanks...

Good video 👍. I have the nest learning thermostat fitted since January and I see that average daily heating is 12-14hr even in eco mode. Is that normal? I don't know the stats of the old thermostat to compare since it was not a smart one.

Great tutorial! But please, don't press on the screen, it doesn't have a touch screen, you can press any place on the edge of the thermostat, so you don't get greasy fingers on the glass. Presses easier too on the edge.

Tried the low end when on sale for 99. It refused to connect via wifi. Phones, Firestick, Chromebook and laptop all connected fine, so yes I am certain it was the unit. Support wanted me to purchase another one, not happening. Now a month after return and still no refund. While support is always polite, they are worthless (6 conversations 0 resolutions). Oddly a black and decker 70 dollar toaster oven went out a week later, 10 minute phone call, new one has been in use for weeks, wonderful. This is a gimmik, do you really want your heat connected via wifi, do think before purchase, I find a 25 buck programable perfect and flawless. Good Luck.

I have 2 Nest thermostats installed for about a year and I'm about to switch to ecobee because the swing time on the thermostat is too long. House gets to the set temperature then it gets cold before the thermostat asks for heat again. That's a very common complaint amongst Nest owners and Nest hasn't done anything to resolve it yet. This may not be a problem if you have a newer build home, but if you live in an old house, it can be a problem.
