most instructional videos i've watched talk about the dragging of the front foot towards the nose of the board and few of them talk about the lifting of the back leg as soon as it has popped the board. like, after popping immediately lift it.
this was the first video i watched that pretty much does the exact opposite. no mention about the dragging of the front foot and underscoring the importance of lifting the back leg, since, the still stretched out leg will keep the board from lifting and therefor make it an ollie.
Btw. from what i see, and this video opened my eyes to it, there is no dragging of the foot towards the front in the board. what seems to happening is that the front foot is coming up and the nose of the board is on its way to meet it, as it rotates backwards toward it. the moment they have contact, the upper movement is still happening and the board stops rotating coz of its contact with the foot. the front foot is now in contact with the board but it is still moving upward (coz of the jump). this is what looks like dragging the tip of the shoe forward while in reality the bend front foot is just moving upward on a backwards rotating nose of the board, which for the foot feels exactly the same. the feeling of something dragging up towards something is the same as the feeling of that something dragging down towards something. and it also looks similar. but here the front foot is just going up. just look at it, it never moves forwards it just goes up along with the body (coz of the jump) and down with it (coz of gravity). so, why practice dragging the foot upwards onto the board? it's like practicing a move that's not part of the trick.
i can't ollie yet, but i'm much more confindent after having watched your video.
YO THIS IS GOOODDDD the tip of just lifting front foot instead of just popping helped immensely
