I remember this like it was yesterday. The entire US news media was in a hysterical paroxysm of rage against the USSR because they took into their warped, distorted and twisted minds that the radiation from the explosion would destroy the world. This came as a big surprise to me because prior to that, the media couldn't love the USSR enough, and now they were really, really hating on the USSR.
