I could not withdraw from methadone without kratom! Kratom is a game changer for opiod withdrawal symptoms!

I took it as an antidepressant but then I became dependent on it and couldn't find it and had to use heroin to prevent withdrawal then I found methadone again and finally after 15 years I wean myself down and I was taking 5 mg a day the withdrawals were still horrible it's been two years now with no opiates and I'm still not up to par

I've just turned seventy and have been on Methadone for longer than I can remember. At my stage in life I won't put myself through weeks of pain and suffering to get off the shit. With heroin you climb the walls for three days and by the fourth day you feel a lot better and at day five you're clean. Yes methadone has helped stabilize my life but for me it feels like a mistake.

I thought methadone was first synthesize by the Germans in World War 2 ? I thought the supply chain was disrupted and they could no longer get opium. They needed something for the soldiers and could no longer produce morphine so they developed methadone.

You got it on point and let me say I’ve been on methadone 17 years of course for pain now but when addiction was going on I ended up going to prison with no help of anything. I kicked this shit so bad ended up in shock and took me two months to get my body and mind straight. My ptsd is horrific with my withdrawal process. The worse and Dr’s don’t tell you the how bad this is and can get. Loved your video and again tfs this with us all.

Lol methadone is way more addictive than most things imo. At least subs eventually stop producing a high. It has a ceiling effect. But you can keep feeling methadone and the wds last way longer

First off, I want to say I really do like your videos, and they have a lot of very helpful information. However, I would like to say that it is a common misconception that the naloxone in Suboxone is a blocker in the way that people think it is. The buprenorphine itself is what has an extremely high binding affinity. Therefore, the buprenorphine is the substance that blocks other opioids from binding to your receptors. When used as directed, the naloxone does not do anything. It is included in the medication so that if you try to inject it, the naloxone will work and create an unpleasant effect for you. I also want to say that after trying both Suboxone and methadone, I feel much better on Suboxone. The half-life is much better and the side effects are much less. I never found that I got any kind of high at all from methadone, yet I found I experienced a lot of negative side effects, including constipation, unbearable levels of sweating, and a much shorter half-life. I would get sleepy the few hours after taking the dose, but not in a way that felt high, then it would just wear off by the time I would go to sleep that evening. Furthermore, the methadone clinic that I had experience with would use any excuse to take a privilege away from you, yet make you wait indefinitely to give you a privilege even if you are totally compliant. You are absolutely right that getting off of methadone is the hardest thing I have experienced, more difficult than any recreational drug I have ever had to get off of. Finally, I would like to say that everybody should do and stick with what works for them, even if that is methadone. Everybody is different and I know that there are a lot of people that have had a different experience than I have had. I apologize for any punctuation and grammar issues, I am trying to do this on a mobile device which is difficult. Thank you so much for all of your wonderful videos.

I only used methadone for 5 days to get off dope each day I lowered the dose but I bought it illegally because I didn't want to sit in detox and I don't want to wake up early to go to the clinic plus I didn't want another habit so I just bought for enough days just to kick dope it worked for me oh and I smoked a little bit of weed really helps in my opinion

Saw your interview with Chad Marks tonight. So glad you gave the name of your You tube channel! Great interview!! Appreciate your honesty and owning your behaviors. not everyone does that. Do you wish you'd used methadone or suboxone while you were detoxing in jail?

Methadone is one of the few good creations of Nazi Germany. Being faced with a morphine shortage, Nazi scientists created methadone as a synthetic alternative to morphine. It has a very long half life and if taken properly can prevent withdrawal from opiates without a narcotic high. People taking far too much and/or mixing drugs can be dangerous or potentially fatal.
Properly slowly titrating off of methadone (~2mg/week) can be painless mostly.
Problems...the half-life of methadone and the way your body absorbs and processes it makes stopping cold Turkey a MISERABLE ORDEAL! I know many people who went to jail from the clinic and released after 2 months were still withdrawing. Of course they were all taking around 120~150mgs a day.
Methadone works better for VERY opiate tolerant people. Those seeking help coming off of heavy Oxycontin use, fentanyl, and heroin.
For those seeking help who take like 40mg of oxycodone daily, hydrocodone, morphine...I would suggest getting suboxone at a clinic.
Unfortunately heavy users have often reported that suboxone don't help very much.
Research and talk to an intake counselor to determine what is right for you. Methadone literally saved my life along with great counseling and support groups/stress management/cognitive behavioral therapy...
I wish you the best!

I hear all the time in videos and when people talk about Methadone "the withdrawals are horrible, terrible etc etc"

In my opinion I feel we need to stop associating Methadone with Withdrawal. If you take your dose as prescribed and taper down appropriately whatever that looks like for you & your doctor. You should experience Zero withdrawal and if for some reason you feel the slightest bit uncomfortable call your doctor and make the changes needed. Methadone saves lives and it saved my life.

I was on methdone for 10 years. Highest dose I was on was 120. I got sick of it. I hated it. I went down to 30 mg and didn’t take for 3 days and then stared subs. I had clonidine and trazadone which helped immensely with w/d.

Off subject a bit, but you mentioned the "blocker" in Subutex. It's my understanding that yes it has the blocker in it, but these blockers are ineffective unless give intravenously. Putting it in a pill doesn't really affect or "block" anything. I'm sure there's some Context to that I'm missing, but a ER Tech told me that yrs ago.

PS: I'm no expert in that dept. It's always possible I'm wrong.

I’ve done both. Suboxone helped immensely with my cravings. The fentanyl I was taking was so strong I had to wait almost a week to start subs. The methadone I could start right away. They both help. It just depends on the person. Pre-cip withdrawal is hell.

I’ve been off methadone for three months now and I’m still going through postacute withdrawal The acute phase lasted about a month it was very bad I didn’t get the chance to taper either that was 120 mg to nothing, buprenorphine in my opinion is the better route that’s really up to the individual though
