JavaScript Basics: Count the words in a string

I had to look for this one in English and I finally found it.

I tried that for a larger text and it didn't work. I compared my result to microsoft word and they weren't the same.

hi could you possibly try to code that in IntelliJ. I need to complete a project that requires me ask for a users input for their Name and Surname and from there i need to join the two strings and i need to count all the letters within that string but i have to use IntelliJ

what does the str part do?
