ОтветитьI’ve been experiencing serious bloating & pooping less & less over the past month. I can’t eat & have severe abdominal distention. I’m in constant pain.
No medical insurance & I’m not sure where to start, like maybe go to a walk in clinic.
In immense pain, went to urgent care, they refused to diagnose and instead referred me for a cat scan a week from now!!
ОтветитьDoes a fluoroscopy diagnose this or what test checks for this.
ОтветитьMy husband is in the hospital right now because of an SBO. What did I do wrong in feeding him? This never happened in the 17 years we were together. I make healthy meals in moderate proportion, and I try to serve a variety of foods. All I can think of what I did differently was to serve meatloaf, which I hardly ever make. Please, how is this caused - Was it indeed meatloaf? I slow cooked it in beer, it was really tender. It was not a heavy brick in any way. I just don't know what I did wrong.
ОтветитьI have a question to which no one, including gastrenterologists, has been able to answer so far. So I'll try with you. :)
I'm 62, and have had very bad partial SBO's since I was about 12 (at least 30). This is the result of adhesions from multiple abdominal surgeries, starting when I was an infant.
To the question: What TRIGGERS SBO's from adhesions? I can go for years without one; other times I may have several in a year. (I think I fear them more than just about any other health issue!).
So, are they triggered by a certain movement I make? Stress? Increased inflammation? Something else? If I had a clue, I have a better chance of preventing them!
Thanks.
I have been hospitalised over 20 times with a complete small bowel obstruction caused mainly by adhesions….For anyone wondering if they have one or not…. Let’s put it this way, if your googling or on social media asking about it, you probably don’t have one because if you did you would without a doubt be in the emergency room or A&E…..They are f@@kin painful, like reallllllllyyyyy painful… my last one, I was carted out my house on a stretcher by the paramedics as I was tachycardia… you vomit fecal matter or bottle green bile… I’ve lost hours of my life as I don’t remember them, it’s like your body takes over the pain is soooo intense
It starts as a feeling like trapped wind when it gets a bit painful or gives you belly ache and it comes in waves of pain, then as the hours go by the pain becomes more frequent and more intense to the point when your in agony ALL THE TIME and your stomach looks like your 9 month’s pregnant. It makes you sweat, you can’t walk, talk or stand up straight… it’s constant
I’ve just had a bowel resection which removed 52cm of my small bowel. I had a bowel to bowel fistula (hole connecting2 parts of bowel together that shouldn’t be connected), a stricture (a narrowing on my bowel caused by Crohn’s scar tissue) and a big loop of distended bowel and a part of my bowel had stuck to part of my liver so I also had adhesions separated…. All this was painful afterwards but a bowel obstruction is just as painful, it’s the only thing I’m terrified of getting again, you literally feel like you want to die… unless you have ever experienced one you can’t possibly know what it’s like and when people equate it to being just constipated 🤬🤬 I wish that’s all it was 😢
I have Crohn’s disease as well but my bowel obstruction problem started after I had surgery to remove my appendix at age 20, I’m now 48. I was diagnosed for 10 years with just adhesions (scar tissue) and then 5 years ago I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. I now have the complete opposite problem since my bowel resection, I have sever bile acid malabsorption, my body won’t absorb bile acids anymore as that piece of bowel has been removed this makes me go to the loo 20+ times per day with severe acid diarrhoea. I’ve literally gone from one extreme to the other but I’ll still take going the loo over not going any day
Thank you my twin is suffering from from small intestine 😊
ОтветитьI had a gastric bypass 22 years ago. No issues and lost 125 lbs.
In the last 2 years I’ve had 3 BO….

ОтветитьMy husband had an SBO 4 weeks ago with pain, tummy distention, and vomiting. Went to the hospital and had a CT scan with contrast, and they found a neuroendocrine mass in the mesentrey. (Which is a hormonal cancer that can appear anywhere in your body but is very slow growing). They operated, took out the mass and his appendix, and joined his small bowel together after a large resection. The pathology report came back as cancer. He is now on yearly CT Scan checks but fortunately did not need any chemotherapy.

ОтветитьGot a hernia and now how have constant gas/indigestion!?
ОтветитьI take opioid medication and have for many years. In 2014, I became very constipated and had to go to the hospital, the doctor jabbed a vile of medication into my upper abdomen and I went to the bathroom twenty minutes later. Idk what she gave me but it worked. Years later I discovered that if I eat several servings of watermelon and corn everyday, I don't have issues with constipation. Also, I discovered something called Coloslim.... I think that's the name of it and if I feel I'm getting constipated, I'll take one of those and I'll go to the bathroom but I prefer to eat watermelon and corn. Everything is so expensive these days that I haven't been able to have watermelon daily but that really helped me tremendously.
Good luck to everyone out there. Bowel health is very important.
