Demand Deposit limit for Payment Banks has been increased to 2 lacs from 1 lac w.e.f April 2021.

According to RBI, to be called a Bank it must performed two functions ( Accepting deposits and providing loans).

Whereas payment bank does not provide loans, therefore they are not bank instead they are new conceptual model of bank register under companies act 2013 and license by RBI umder Banking regulation. Act 1949.
