The interviewer needs training. Jaron Lanier, made some great points and answered his question so well that it deserves follow up questions to his answers, not just the next question. It's like his waiting for Jason to stop talking just to ask another question.

I am on the side of Jaron Lanier about his views on social media even before I became a social media specialist but I can’t find other online jobs I can do. Tried coding but couldn’t get a job. To balance it out, I personally don’t do social media but only do it for my clients.

I get a laugh out of it. That's it. People are weak minded AF.

Food industry does same thing but supercharges processed foods with chemicals which effect our brains, stomach biomes, and hormonal system. Big tobacco founded this addition rigging. America is full of backstabbing companies. Backstabbing politicians etc

I stopped using social media 2weeks ago and in the first week I realized a difference in my mental and mood swings go away.

It makes you make comparisons. Its negative cimparisons. Social media is worse then smoking cigarettes

You can tell there’s a sacred cow he’s not willing to sear when it comes to gaming and screen time in general. I notice a dramatic shift in my children’s behavior went there’s a screen on in the same room, whether they’re watching it or not.

Can’t stand this interviewer. He literally makes people pissed off with his questions.

Reality is ruining my life

I had FB for about 6 months some years back. I couldn't see the sense of it so deleted it. Here we are 15 years later and the people I know who continue to use it are the most antisocial low IQ people I know with next to zero face to face communication skills. But as tool to explore subject matter and negotiate and engage invaluable discussion in the town square it is far superior than the legacy media and their mind numbing news services. They have long been seriously corrupted, only now with the rise in independent journalism it really stands out how profoundly corrupted they actually are. Little wonder corrupt moral anti democratic countries are grabbing for censorship tools like algerythm's and AI, you can't have the state not controlling the public opinion no less publically discussing their lies and minipulative social constructs.

He looks like Jabba the hut , but he’s right, I stopped most social media 15 years ago, instagram needs to go since meta made it as insidious as Facebook, but essentially also we have made the internet toxic, the issues in the whole of society, only will change when we all get aware and stop. He’s not saying anything that’s rocket science. It’s obvious I think.

So, I'm listening to some high quality, very informative analyses about this issue. I'm getting a lot out of Lanier's brilliance. Then this so called reporter asks if Lanier is some New Age Hippie. Wow, an ad hominem attack from out of nowhere. This reporter has as much class and sophistication as a typical Fox news/ Frat boy/obnoxious blowhard like Jesse Watters. This is also a problem with media in general and humans in particular. Fast talking, philistines will lead us to ruin but get a lot of air time and attention. Thoughtful, well informed experts, trying to save us from our folly are laughed at and ignored. My only hope is that the philistines will ruin themselves and leave the rest of us to prosper due to our comparatively solid decision making, and calm respect for merit.

We are not in the wrong generation, we are here to keep the old alive.
