Its basically RUST sleeping bag placement even the ore the furnace is what you find in RUST right now.

At this point, asset flipping is the norm. Look at bathesda, star field is pretty much fallout reskinned.

Asset flip is not bad and it is legal. Assets flip make idle devloper faster in developing games especially if you are not an artist. You can make geat games using assets flip and most developers do that too. The thing here is If you love your game and put some effort in it. Even copying code or using assets flip can be put very well together and make a master piece game 🎮

When used right, asset packs are great. No point re-inventing the wheel for every system. However, you should at least go through the asset you bought, and change things up to personalize them to your game. Sadly most early access devs just mash together several packs and think they made a game.

Finally the dev is like "wait, so when you guys say 'asset flip', what does that mean again, just to refresh my memory?"

The fact the guy is an asshole is the biggest issue to me.

I've put thousands of hours into bad games as a result of the developers being willing to listen to criticism and taking their often justified beating in reviews with class. Project wasteland: the mythiclands, Milkcraft, water rain, and croppy boy come to mind regarding multiplayer games I found this year that are from small team / solo developers, are flawed in multiple ways but show promise, and the developers were all friendly, even offering free items and keys for the feedback provided.

So question fry. Some one buys assets and changes them and uses custom assets based off that too but Mabye keep stuff from unity is that technically not a douche move

A lot of this can't be blamed on just the developers. Unity constantly pushes their asset store during tutorials, videos they put up, on their website, and in e-mails. It's one of their biggest revenue streams, so naturally some of the blame for these asset flips rests with them for pushing an "easy way to make your own game!"

I find it one big fucking coincidence that the survival kit and the space project are both available on torrent sites. I HIGHLY DOUBT he even paid for them from the asset store to be honest. I would put my life on it.

@ravnosFX, I have been working on it again the last few months, and it's initial new rebuild was uploaded two days ago. It was never "dead" life just happens. I have a full time job besides this, and a child to watch now.

I've heard that all before. The developers of other games that I bought, like Edge of Space, Hellion, New Dawn, Project Alpha, Stellar Overload, etc. said the same story. I'm not interested in what's wrong with you or what problems you have in life. You put the game up for sale and as a customer I demand a playable game. If you have other commitments in your life and you barely have time to do anything else, don't make games. Creating games is a privilege and passion, if you can't afford it, stop it immediately and don't make others pay for it. A great example of an independent developer is a game called Subsistance made by ColdGames. He is only one guy and he also has his life obligations. It is truly a labor of love, what he makes in his free time is astonishing. Go compare your game to his. Good Luck.

I know how it goes. At the start he was planning to help himself out with assets, but when time went on he just stayed with only assets. So much ambition, without proper skills and experience. So many people dream about being a developer, and start making a game without any "know-how".
