Quilt Snips Mini Tutorial - Rhombus Cube

I need info about this portion of the tutorial: Once you have the strips finished and have a black triangle at the top of each strip and then sew the strips together, how do you finish the opening between the black triangles at the top and bottom of each strip. This seems to be ignored in the tutorial.

Made this quilt for my hubbies 60th in black/grey/red, he loves it. Was real neat watching the blocks come together and tumble, and you can look at it from side to side and it becomes a whole different color wave...was a nice pattern, and Jenny makes it so simple..Love her...
