Thank you Jeff... And I will seeeeeeee youuuuuuuuu next time !
ОтветитьGreat summary, and very listenable. Thank you.
ОтветитьAny chance you can share the link to the file that you used to print the adapter plate for the CM4 IO board?
ОтветитьYeah, you Americans get it easy with a full 1200 MHz of spectrum in the 6 GHz band. We in Europe only get 500 MHz at the moment and we don't even get external antenna support yet.
ОтветитьI would not call the Pi exceptionally good but instead, the Mac incredibly crap!
Man I have a Asus UX305CA Ultrabook from end of 2015 and an even Older 802.11AC Asus RT-AC68U WiFi Router. With this combo I already get more than 600MBit actual data passthrough over wifi. If the Mac today can barely pass that, then its just a shit WiFi it uses :D
is this can be linked to a DIY nomad router project ?
if i take this raspberry pi and Wireless Network Card Adapter ...
linked to a custom 3D printed prototyped with battery and little lcd touche screen coupled with a wireguard tailscale vpn / Pfsense ...
the last thing i'd like to know is how to put a sim card into it, that provide me 4g almost everywhere ...
So happy to see thet Great Scott! T-shirt! Very kind of you for giving the shout out! Love both channels!
ОтветитьWire is still best
ОтветитьNice to see some networking content that isn't centred around Ubiquity. I've been hesitant to jump into that whole ecosystem and it's good to see alternatives. Really wish they'd all bugger off with this cloud-tied crap.
ОтветитьI don't like NetGear brand, because it's need extra fee to manage children web surfuring, and the other brand doesn't, it also require a different app called circle, what a stupid idea like this.
ОтветитьWired is always faster than wireless
ОтветитьOn the Wi-Fi 6E Netgear why did you not utilize bandsteering?
ОтветитьToo bad I live in Canada where all of these Intel AX210/211 cards don't work on 6GHz. I guess Intel doesn't like Canada because they aren't tight on resources. I guess if I get a MediaTek card it will work though. I've tried different drivers, different operation systems, different hardware.... Nothing. Guessing it will still not work when WiFi 7 comes out, but Intel cards from that will probably be sold in Canada but not actually work in Canada.
ОтветитьHow does NetGear support local router conf? I habe not found it, only way i csn do anything is when connected to internet.
Any help/tips would be apriciated.
netgear wac124
Great Scott!
ОтветитьApple must have a good reason? Why? Nobody questions their decisions or designs.
ОтветитьSmall ,but it's so strong!!
Ответитьwifi 6(E) should also have the 20ghz or 40 ghz bands as well. both host and receiver need to support it . this is the first I'm hearing of 6ghz. this can matter if you have line of sight to router and around 6 feet of distance. you get a very tight band (high frequency wave). 2.4 ghz and power line is my long distance solution still to date but in home 5 and 6 makes a lot of sense
ОтветитьWell, the new Mac book pros have 6E now.
ОтветитьThe great scott tshirt 😍
ОтветитьMy Netgear WAX630E access points were absolute hot garbage with Netgear L2/L3 support being an unhelpful waste of time. I pulled all of my netgear equipment and went to Unifi.
ОтветитьThat tower is in Shrewsbury (St. Louis) Missouri. So I'm guessing you are close to me then...
ОтветитьThoughts on a 96GB RAM MBP?
ОтветитьI like my wifi around 800mhz, I like the radiation.
ОтветитьWhile everyone around me is wanting more bands radiating their house, to get even faster and faster speeds. I have attempted to go the opposite direction, mostly wired, smart home setup will run rs485 protocol rather than wifi. Its well known that even 2.4ghz effects water molecules and considering the number one cancer in children is blood cancer, I would advise against flooding your house with more FRQs than needed, especially when sleeping. That being said I can't imagine what 5 and 6 ghz does
ОтветитьUsing 6Ghz also means all other networks on that band are WiFi 6, so they support the newest features for getting best performance, even if there a multiple competing networks.
ОтветитьOnly
iPad Pro (11", 4. Generation)
iPad Pro (12,9", 6. Generation)
support 6E
my intel ax210 lookin' pretty hot rn
ОтветитьOne shouldn't need to open a terminal window to set up a WiFi router TF
ОтветитьMy Xiaomi AX3600 will hold it up well for a few years.
ОтветитьHaha 🤣 apple do apple things ....
ОтветитьNo this is not a pi. I have a pi (Kano) , and it has the slowest Wi-Fi in the house except for the Wii U that we don’t even have hooked up to Wi-Fi.
If you give the pi a better chip than make it fair and give the m2 one too.
I appreciate your transparency when it comes to gifts/sponsors/etc. I can trust your opinions! Cheers.
ОтветитьMust be a protocol issue
ОтветитьHow da heck
Ответитьhello.
i am using a raspberrypi4 for my home server where i run adguard and docker with few containers like jellyfin, vaultwarden, dashy, bittorrent, etc.
After using it for a while my SD card turns into read only mode and no matter what i do i can't change it back to normal how it was. it has happened twice now and both time i was able to get new SD card as they were in warranty. Sandisk High Endurance and Samsung Evo +.
Why is it turning like this ? is it because i am running everytging from SD card ? do i need to add some external storage ?
Not surprised. That's crapple for you. Behold the the woes of locked down trash.
ОтветитьI run multiple SSIDs, but I run them on any frequency. I run them as an extension of my VLAN setup.
I run my Wifi 6 AP in the center of the house just at grade. This works well enough to reliably cover the house.
That's definitely clickbait, I'm sorry. The raspi had nothing to do with the test, you could have used any computer with an intel wifi 6e card. The gist of it is: wifi 6e is faster than 6, but as you said there is no reason to use it, but you still want to get upset at apple for not including it🙄... also the wifi consortium switch to numbers to "simplify" naming and then immediately added a letter because they are idiots...
ОтветитьWifi providers in my area: 8 megabit, take it or leave it
Ответитьhe’s back!
ОтветитьWhat about Unifi kit? They have some 6E APs don't they?
ОтветитьThe question really for a normal person is, do you really need 1 Gbit on wifi? No probably not.
ОтветитьGREAT SCOTT FAN SPOTTED 😀😃😄
ОтветитьJeff, why do you think companies like Netgear or others haven't released external USB-C dongles to ADD support for Wifi 6/6E to Macs (specifically M1's - ARM64)? I went through this last year. Netgear SAID they supported MAc's with one of their wifi dongles...after a few days and a few tech support persons...they supported Intel-based Mac's. They told me it's the chipset manufactures who aren't writing drivers for the mac's. If this is so, seems like they are losing out on possible sales.
ОтветитьMost people don't even have a gigabit plan from their ISP to take advantage of this.
Ответитьclickbait
ОтветитьOnly people who don't know how to use a computer buy apple and it"s closed/proprietory hardware !).
ОтветитьMissed your shenanigans! It's obvious Raspberry Pi's bottleneck is its weak cpu, I wonder how good as an access point could it be if it were a bit more powerful
Ответить
