the movie is 15 years older than me but i find it interesting, dumb but interesting, cool costumes at the very least

Hey, I was the kid who read the manual cover to cover for the new game I got on Christmas lol. Even when I was like 7. My little brother was the one who just popped it in and started playing with 0 information, and I told him the shit in the manual and he learned along the way.

Why does the box say “Zapp”while it says Zzap everywhere else?

With the concept of games from alternate universes, I wonder if Ninjabread Man/Anubis II/Rock n Roll Adventures/Myth Makers: Trixie in Toyland is the biggest example of this, or if it's just DDI forcing a meme.

I've definitely come to agree with Ross, if there are alternate universes, we live in one of the weird alternate ones.

I had this one, as Flash Gordon, at the time. I remember the weird spooky feeling of the jungle level so well, and I think maybe once saw that end screen as it looks kinda familar, there must have been a technique for dealing with that last level that me and my friends figured out. I always remember being confused as to why the atmosphere and enemies in this were so different to the tone of the movie, which I LOVED as a kid.

I will assume they had the rights to flash gordon in a region, but not on the rest of the world, and they figured 'hey, we have a full game made already, let's just file off the licensed name and sell it over there too for more money'

One thing I will never understand is how the bad controls of so many Commodore 64 games actually got put into commercial products. I mean I would understand this being a programming shortcut in somebody's indie game that they just made as a hobby for themselves, but surely if you were going to try to sell it, you'd want the controls to be normal right!?!?

I suspect that what probably happened was that the game was designed first as Captain Zapp and then they got the license later and decided to rebrand it as Flash Gordon.

Gotta say I really love your C64 game dungeons, Bozo's Night Out, Spiderbot, and Captain Zzap.

Copyright issues. Usually they'll go to name it something and when it goes over seas some obscure company or indie band will have it already so they got no choice but to change it.

I loved this game... I was able to complete it... Obvious Flash Gordon ripoff.

Yet another Mastertronic masterpiece! This one actually looks kinda easy, compared to a lot of their "games".

All this talk about being a Gordon makes me wonder: does Gordon Ramsay hold up to being a Gordon? He was able to tag along with the Royal Marines and keep up wtih them at 50 or something during a PT, so that's pretty good.
