Radeon 680M vs Radeon 780M vs GTX 1650 vs RTX 3050 - How Big is the Difference?

You’re actually super bottlenecking the 780m by only using 16gb of ram. I assume because it’s an igpu and uses system ram as vram but a 780m with 32gb of ram was 25-30% faster than with 16gb of ram same speeds same system.

Also what speed of ram are you using? A 4800mhz kit will get a lot less sometimes even more than 30% worse performance than 5600mhz ram.

For demanding video editing, do you thing an amd radeon 780 would do as well as a Nvidia trx 3050 ?

Hi. Office work(mutiple tabs), few 3D work(Blender) and some gaming (Watch Dogs2 ...). Planning to use it for 4~5 years.

The two laptop have the same cost, is Better:
1) i7-1165G7/GTX1650 Ti/16G DDR4
OR
2) R7 PRO 7840HS / AMD Radeon 780M / 24G DDR5

somethings up.. every person i see benches these chips with the 680m and 780m comparing them to other cards.. when they dont have there vram doing the job.? seeing wormz hit great numbers

3050 is still a joke of a laptop GPU cause of 4gb of Vram
just go with 4050 or even 4070 with 16 cores that would lost way longer
but the price are the problem cause some bozos even sell 3 year old model for same price as newest

All IGPUs are good but their driver support is terrible. Many games can get similar fps as gtx1650 but because of good drivers it falls behind.

you're playing with 500mb of vram, go to amd software settings and put games instead of productivity, it will give you 4gb of vram

Ummm you need to set the vram on the igpu's on 4gb-8gb NOT auto. Could make a difference I'm guessing

what are your vram settings in bios? If the iGPU can use more vram instead of the ram then it might be faster

In my country notebooks with 680m and 3050 are the same price and sometimes even on sale a 3050ti also hits the same price as AMDgpu laptop so, pointless to even bother with this 680m ...

The 780m will be a lot faster with faster ram. Toss some 5600 in and it will keep up with the 1650.

Strange results, since in many other videos 780m beats 3050

AMD integrated GPUs vs Nvidia's dedicated GPUs.
Yet AMD's iGPUs managed to get close.

As mentioned in other comments already this is less a test of gpus as it is testing the limitations of 4800 ddr5. Thats jedec. Its like running DDR4 at 2133.

You have to assign more vram to these igups, atleast 4gbs of vram in the bios.

I id like this on a 8600g or 8700g but not is work it by the price.

By the way 16gb ram is not enough for igpu gaming. As an example. Warzone uses at least 4gb vram with 12-13gb ram. That means you need around 16-17gb free ram in your pc.
16gb ram only has around 14-14.6gb ram available which is not enough for a modern title. So try to get at least 24gb ram or 32 gb.

Buy minisforum version of 780m. Because that's the only version that has reasonable price comparing to others. 660 dollars seems like a great deal

This comparison is not correct because you didn't give memory to Radeon 680M and Radeon 780M. Also, you haven't set the RAM frequency you are using sufficiently, which means that the Radeon 680M and the Radeon 780M can use about 35%-45% of the performance.

These igpus are Impressive on paper but serve no purpose in real life. Priced at $1000+ and most times they come with dedicated gpu. They should’ve put these in budget options. Ryzen 3 and ryzen 5s.
