God dam man, Bethesda is such a gross company for this.

Whats more fucking stupid, even downgrading the exe to 1.597 doesnt fix the problem. The new esl file type basically bricked my game and just crashes my shit.

What a terrible day for skyrim modding

Who's willing to bet that within the next year or so Bethesda starts requiring a fee for people to upload their mods to Bethesda's mod "service", or push some kind of subscription for modders to get some kind of special treatment? Wouldn't surprise me at all if they tried something like that in order to push modders towards charging for their mods just to cover the cost.

As a complete noob to mods( I only stared two weeks ago) I would like to ask your opinion on somethings as you seem well informed.

How long do you think its going to take for these more important mods to update (mods like unofficial patch or SkyUI). Can we expect updates to roll out in the next two months or is it more likely to take 5-7 months?


I have the current version of skyrim se, you mentioned that there are downgrades to both 1.6.xxx(AE) and 1.5.xxx(SE)
And If I understand correctly the difference between those two is mosty about what mods they support
(please correct me, but as I understand 1.6 has a lot of the newer mobs while 1.5 has a lot more mods)

And lastly for any future mods like ENAISIAIONs integraded mods (he is still adding to that serius) what versions are these mods going to likely support?

If most mods are going to be updated to support the newest release I would like to avoid downgrading

But if you think I should downgrade to the previous version I will take that advice.

When Skyrim came out on GoG I was sure they were finally done with it and would leave it alone. Boy how wrong was I.

Apart form all the info below, always make sure your stupid steam, is set to " Onliy download when you launch it " , if bugthesda up date you Don't have update your game, if your game is stable, why update, just because its an update, read the notes first and see if something you actually want, don't just blindly update because bugsthesda update!

There are 2 layers to stop the update indefinitely. And now a full downgrade patcher too.

The quickest way to kill this whole idea and stick it to BGS and their Micro$oft Overlords is,
if the authors of Bodyslide/Outtfit Studio and any body mod(CBBE,UNP ect) says No to any one who uses their tool or bodies in the purpose of making a payware armor.
Part of the rules for the new payware mods is they have to be standalone, however, if the mod relies on another mod they must declare the other assets required and that asset mod author is contracted as part of your team for that mod to be accepted as payware. Also being contracted as part of your team means you have to pay them from what you make after M$/BGS take their 70% cut and those authors could name any percentage they like as they know without their mods yours is pretty much dead in the water.

I do want people to know, the downgrade patcher doesnt fully work currently, Ive downgraded my game and have done extra steps to make sure itll work and it wouldnt launch with the same modlist ive had prior to the update. even after a fresh install and the steam depot method

Yeah it happened to my game one mod wasn’t working because of it that caused a cascade of dependency issues

Currently there are some major problems on the Xbox Series X Skyrim update. I personally have experienced the update removing the options for creation club and mods from the main menu. Those 2 options cannot be selected because they are missing from the main menu completely. I have read other post where other people are having the same problem.

This kind of thing is exactly why I still haven't moved on from OG Skyrim. It's insane they keep getting away with seemingly intentionally breaking mods on their decade-old game just to squeeze more money out of players.

My game works absalutely fine then agien only keep it at like 20 mods max why becose i broke my game one too many times early on with the origanl release i learned my lesson unlike some of u. oh my game keeps breaking well maybee dont use 100+ mods.

On top of Bethesda pushing these unnecessary updates, there's always a ton of entitled assholes harassing mod authors to update their mods.
Regardless of how you got your game updated, whether it be by accident or on purpose, mod authors are not obligated in any way shape or form to update their mods.

I’m on Xbox One, and I literally cannot play the game. I can’t even install it. Ever since the Anniversary update a few years ago, I’ve suffered from Special Edition freezing on the main menu if I started the game while my Xbox was online and connected to the internet. A few days ago I decided to uninstall the game and reinstall it to see if that fixed it, but I literally cannot install the game off the physical disk I own. It gets to about 80%, then just stops dead for not reason.

I did 1.64 and my crashes at start up!!

I got updated despite turning off auto update, after the update my whole steam library of games got knocked off steam. So I got force updated and steam didn't detect any of my games anymore. This normal? I had version 1.6.353 because I had really old mods that I have converted, some you can't even find anymore which I could only get to work with that version. Despite backing up my entire game/mods and trying to restore them, my SKSE is still very broken in vortex. Any ideas? Anyone?

And...this new new new update of Skyrim is why I'm currently playing Oblivion lol XD

There is no "off" setting for Automatic Updates. The options are "Always keep this game updated", "Only update this game when I launch it", and "High Priority - Always auto-update this game before others". The closest we can get to turning it off is to set it to only update when launched, but turn off "Allow downloads during gameplay" in Steam's Downloads settings.

The downgrade patcher doesn't work. This was acknowledged by the mod's author on December 6th in a sticky post in the mod page's posts section. Either the downgrade patcher freezes and never finishes downloading or the game freezes/crashes after the patcher completes.

It would be nice if all skyrim players to agree to stick with 1.597 and just let bethesda through money down the drain with their scammy policy of selling the same game 4 times.

On my "Skyrim PC" Steam is OFFLINE. And it will STAY offline.
Plus I just got a GOG version on sale for 12$.

Never seen a community that complains that a game is still being supported. It's your own fault if you've gone into using mods and it's your responsibility to make sure your game doesn't update automatically and break your mods. If you update willingly then you should expect broken mods. Simple as that.

For whatever it's worth, I believe this update will remove the need to increment version number on the exe for new creations. So, once we're over this hump, it should be better going forward... I hope.
The ESL index jumble might cause majore issues for load orders, however. I hope they fix that atleast.

With SE they managed to anger me into permanent pirating their games assuming bethesda can still make games worth pirating. Honestly AAA gaming has really made me mad. Given their updates im guessing they are intentionally fucking the modding community because as incompetent as they are negligence only goes so far. People are coping crazy hard but quality of Fallout 4 and 76 says everything. Its over.

This is why I dumped SE after getting almost a thousand mods working perfectly and having AE f*ck it all up overnight because of muh Xbox. I bought a key and downloaded LE and never looked back. I have not been happier. 🖕Todd
