why is the video so gray?
ОтветитьReally like the Drone pic! Any side by side comparisons of tracked Milky Way pics? Great location for it!
ОтветитьLovely -- very curious what you're using to film the vlog!
ОтветитьVery nice! Thank you
ОтветитьBetween X2D and M11, which one will you get if you can only get one to have a fun experience to shoot daily life, travel and Lego size of object? Is X2D experuence just like any DSLR and Mirrorless where the camera do most thing for you, if that is the case, is it fun? How about rangefinder, I like the rangefinder OVF but since both system nearly the same price, is it make more sense to just get the X2D?
ОтветитьCan't wait to shoot these landscapes w/a new Hasselblad X2D & M11.
ОтветитьHi James, what filter kit are you using with the Q2, I have a full set of 100mm NiSi filters, could I use those with a 49mm step ring Tia
ОтветитьVideo has beautiful colors
ОтветитьX1D for me....
ОтветитьYou Sir are an inspiration! I'm glad I found your channel.
Ответитьgreat review kind sir
ОтветитьI like the natural colors of the video settings
ОтветитьThis video was pure pleasure. Beautiful scenery, great cameras, and excellent production. Well done. I love my Q2 and GFX 50r.
ОтветитьAbsolutely stunning location. Great image captures and a very informative presentation of the capabilities of both cameras.
ОтветитьX1D sensor is 7-8 years old and this proofs that medium format sensor is amazing even it has old sensor. Still better or equal to current FF sensors.
Ответить📸🌟
ОтветитьThat’s brilliant to display your work by framing animation, classic and beautiful!
ОтветитьVery interesting and useful comparison James! Thank you
ОтветитьIt's amazing to see how much your videos have improved over some time being of the channel. All the best James.
ОтветитьYou need to lose a few pounds. Get a bigger rig and 80lb backpack. Photos are Ok - ish
ОтветитьHello James. Just two quick questions: 1-what you call HDR in this video is actual HDR (taking several images at different EVs (exposure values) or just lightening the shadows and darkening the highlights of a single shot in an image-processing software? 2-did you notice any difference in resolution/detail, noise and color rendition between the two cameras (assuming you used the same iso, shutter speed and aperture for the two cameras?
ОтветитьGreat vlogs James. I think you may end up with an M11 and a couple of m lenses, gives versatility and a lightweight set up. I had the Q2 but felt it was limiting with the 28mm lens, although you can crop but you obviously loose detail. I just got the Fujifilm GFX50S MKII which is a bit bulky but those medium format images are something else, for everything else I use the iPhone 12 pro max for scouting and family. Keep the videos coming and stay safe. Ian
ОтветитьThanks for that comparison in a landscape setting. At the scale and resolution we can see I am not seeing any great advantage from the X1D having larger pixels on its bigger sensor. The Q2 appears to hold its own if not beat the X1D. Forget the HDR shots. I don't think we can set the stall out by reference to those. The processed single shots with massive shadow recovery at native ISO for each camera are most instructive. It might just be the YT rendition but the X1D image looks like the greens got much noisier than those in the Q2 after you had pulled the blacks and shadows out of the gloom. Q2 is arguably the most accomplished compact camera the world has known. I think it is a superb landscape shooter. With a 49mm adapter a Lee 75 or 85 filter system works a treat with it. It's actually the only camera I can be bothered to use the App on my phone to control the shutter so that I don't bemoan the absence of a cable release. Enjoy it.
ОтветитьJames,
That was very enjoyable and informative. I had touched base with you a few months back when I was asking a few questions about the X1D and lens combinations for landscape. I was just coming up to a purchase and I value your skills and experience. When I got to the shop I decided to go a different direction completely and went with Leica mostly due to portability. I picked up the Q2 and the M10-R with 21mm and 90 APO. I've always wondered what I was missing without buying the X1D. This video helped tremendously.
Cheers James! I have loved your channel for years. Can't wait to get back to northern England later this year for a few days of good photo rambles.

when are u going to bring us to your photo editing style be it simple or complicated:-)
ОтветитьInteresting comparison James, more mobile with the Q2 though which could be a plus. Surprised you use the tripod with such a long extension of the centre coloum, do you have any stability problems in windy conditions. I did away with the centre coloum by getting a taller tripod. Lovely shots yet again James - thankyou.
ОтветитьBeen awhile since I visited your fine channel James. The addition of framed still images is very well done. This video title caught my eye as I have often wondered if (pixel) size truly matters. Do you think you would choose one system over the other based on final print size as their sensor ratio is quite different?
ОтветитьAnother nice video James - with a geeky section in it as well!
FWIW, in my personal experience, most modern FF cameras will produce excellent results, even when printed quite large. However the larger the sensor and greater the number of pixels, the wider the scope in post processing for dynamic range and cropping. And in the ability to print very large.
However, the feel of the camera and how it suits an individual’s style is also very important and, having used MF for over 50 years now, it still gives me satisfaction to use a larger sensor/film camera. That may mean nothing to some people, which I can understand, but deriving pleasure from the whole process is very rewarding.
Keep the videos coming James, I’m enjoying them immensely.
Taking any brand snobbery out of things - can you let me know in what ways the results from either the Leica or the Hasselblad improve on from that of say a professional model Canon, Nikon or Sony ?. Always wondered what the benefit of spending what for some is a fairly large chunk of change would be as opposed to using something more wallet friendly - lol. Thanks.
ОтветитьVery nice ending with slow drone!
ОтветитьThank you for the 84 seconds.
ОтветитьStunning. I love watching you describe your process. Thank you 🙏
ОтветитьGreat video, James (as always). I especially enjoy your mindfull minutes at the end of each presentation. We are holidaying in Ambleside this week and made an enjoyable (if strenuous) climb up to Latterbarrow from Hawkshead today. What superb views from the monument! The conditions were perfect and we took loads of photographs. You are indeed fortunate to have such amazing landscapes on your doorstep. Keep up the great work - we find your videos so inspiring. Cheers.
ОтветитьNice one James
