I have an LG Plasma 50" that I bought in 2011. Lately, I had problems with it. So, I've decided to go Oled (Samsung 55"). Big mistake! Even though the colors are more vivid and richer on the Oled, the image itself looks unnatural. It’s as if the TV artificially painted the colors on the image (sorry, I don't have the right words to describe it). In short, it's hideously ugly. It doesn't have the warmth and the organic feel of the plasma. I sent back the Oled two days after receving it and called a repair shop for the plasma in hope they're gonna be able to fix it. BTW, good video. Thanks!

My 2008 Vizio 42" plasma is still going strong. I normally watch it in a darkened room and looks really good.

Plasma is more natural in colors
Current TV is too colourful and doesn't look real
Plasma wins hands down.
I'm lucky we have both and Plasma can't be replaced

Plasma has stronger greens. On scene with the yellow car, green lead lights are the most noticeable part.

I have the 42" plasma in my bed room bought 2009, still love the picture compared to my 85" qn85a in my living room. The brightness of new TV makes it better than plasma.

If it's upscaling 1080p to 4k, I imagine there will be some delay, it's doing more than transmitting the signal. It's a much bigger difference than from 720 to 1080.

I still have a Fugitsu plasma vision W 50in that works perfectly it’s just gorgeous. I believe it was one of the first plasma TV’s ever made. TV cost something like $10k when it was new. I got a Q80B 85in a few months ago and it is just a gorgeous powerhouse of a TV I love watching it it’s good at everything and gets beautifull bright. I’ve had 3 Samsung LEDs over the years and have had just great luck with them. I still have a 55in Samsung led from 2010 one of the first models ever made it’s not even a smart tv. Still using it almost daily 13 years later kids play games and watch movies on it and it still looks great and gets really bright. The plasma days were such an exciting time for TV’s I’ve had a few plasma’s come and go but the fugitsu is a straight relic a real gem

51" Samsung 720 plasma ... always used FireTV sticks ... recent intermittent flickering, and occasional black screen with sound ... assume ~10yo power circuit is faulty.
Probably choosing Hisense U6K 55" $398 Walmart, eh?

Well lets be fair here. This plasma was likely heavily used which causes a reduced brightness (that's prob why the bright highlights arent quite what you were wanting). The motion looks more juttery not because its worse, but because plasma tv's are an impluse technology therefore they strobe very fast to produce less unwatned motion blur (ghosting) for use cases like gaming. The reason the QLED LCD tv looks to have smoother motion is simply due to the sample and hold tech thats used in modern displays that produces unwanted motion blur (because of image persistance in the eye). And the banding problem is a non issue because almost all SDR content is 8 bit anyway not 10 bit, so the 10 bit panel on the QLED will only really help in cases where the content was designed with 10 bit color (such as HDR). So the only real wins for the QLED are HDR support, and higher brightness (when viewed from a content perspective at least because they are more effecient in power consumption and are much lighter). Also the plasma is going to look worse in a well lit room due to the grey glass with no polarzier, therefore the light from the room can wash out the blacks. And both tv's were not calibrated in this comparison as you can tell because the white points are completely different. This can change a lot of the image and isnt due to the Plasma producing worse colors, but is due to the settings on the tv not being set the same way as the QLED lcd.

Have had 51” Samsung Plasma 1080p TV for over 10 years and it had no banding like that. Working great until now when it just won’t turn on. Guess I have to say goodbye to plasma. Not happy. LCD always looks flat and fake.

I had a mid-range (or lower?) Panasonic S60 plasma that I adored. It had some unfortunate rainbow artifacting when I turned my head or blinked rapidly, but I mostly got used to it. The motion clarity was great though, and was as close to a CRT as I’ve seen. Unfortunately I don’t have it anymore. I’m sure it gets killed by OLED with contrast but I haven’t seen a TV get as good motion, especially with scrolling images/content.

I have two large plasmas (LGs) - and yeah, they are built to last - and the picture quality still looks great and I can guarantee you they'll outlast the junk being manufactured today. Bit heavy, maybe not nearly as thin - but I like the years I've gotten out of these AND they're still going strong - one after abut 8 years. Paid $100 each USED. Money VERY well spent! Good review!

I have Sony XR93J...and its as par as my Panasonic 42" SMART VIERA S60...you should compare with that level of plasma TV. Not with shitty Samaung plasmas...or at lest with legendary Pioneer Kuro panels.
You know...there are some of us that are loooong time in TVs

And now, we have OLEDs which claim to be the successor to the plasma, but they are actually not. Back in the day, you’re able to purchase a plasma TV for £399 (which is around $299) while the OLED with the same size costs around £1200, which is making people cry. Who wants a PDP comeback?

Our 8 year old plasma, the last in production from LG had already been retired to the bedroom after upgrading to OLED in the lounge. Roll on 1.5 years, the picture is just way too dark despite the nice colouring, couple that with energy price hikes it is time to put it into permanent retirement. We can barely watch dark scenes in tv shows and films. I would say that HDR is the game changer more than screen resolution even. Despite its inky blacks and natural colouring, plasmas lack of HDR ability, its ageing and fading display and high energy consumption doesn't work for us in 2023, we have just ordered a QLED for the bedroom.

Overall, the QLED looks better to me but there were parts where I preferred the plasma. I still have my 2007 model year 42 inch Panasonic 1080p plasma in the spare room and continue to be impressed with how well it has held up. It cost just as much as my current 75" Samsung LED TV that I have in the living room!

❤ Nice content, this really brings back memories....as a new salesman i will say.

Plasma are better in terms of:
Built materials
Ruggedness
Better Tolerance when it comes to power
Original manufacturing company

The new Q series outperformed the Plasma in majority of other features.

I guess it's time to say goodbye to plasma

I would love to see PLASMA, LCD, LED & QLED simultaneously
