Thanks for watching! Please read before commenting :)
Please keep in mind that it's impossible for us to accurately capture someone’s full life experience in a short video.
We often cut large parts of interviews because creating hour-long videos is not realistic for us, but we do our best to share what we think are the most important parts related to alternative housing and alternative living.
In this particular video we did not mention whether David owns, rents, inherited, or shares the land with his family because we were focusing specifically on his long term off-grid yurt experience.
We are so grateful that the people we film take the time to share their homes and lives with us so that we can share them with you. They all have different financial situations, house sizes, and access to land, but they all deserve the same respect.
Our channel is a place to share information and inspiration, and to discuss and debate ideas. We appreciate the comments on our videos, but ask that they be respectful and considerate.
Thanks again and happy exploring :)
Nice place you got it’s not luxurious, but it’s nice saves a lot of resources and a lot of energy
ОтветитьThank you for sharing your journey. This is beautiful 🫶
ОтветитьMold would still be a significant problem in Ontario. Yurts are a great option in dry climates, tho.
ОтветитьYurt my bones like holy moly!
ОтветитьI love the place ..after working in edmonton alberta for 12 years building new homes they all look the same
ОтветитьThank you for sharing, this is absolutely beautiful. I’ve had a dream of doing something like this but I don’t know exactly where to go north or south but either way I have to consider my wife of 23 yrs what her needs are. Thank you so much to giving me ideas it’s absolutely amazing god bless you and congratulations on your wedding day
ОтветитьI’m so thankful for my dad. He left me and my sis a home and a little cash. Enough to drop out. Humbled and I promise I won’t post a video pretending to do it all on my own. It takes a family. Thanks for the video.
ОтветитьSome more Solar would be good for you people use batterys and live off the grid full time with solar and it helps big time
ОтветитьHi, i live in Washington state. i'd loved to adopt a off grid life style, but i need help and guidance. Doing research at the moment. So what is the first thing I need to do? I'm assuming look for land and deal with all the permits???
ОтветитьDavid Super Hippy.
ОтветитьGlad to hear you want to go subterranean. Think about a rocket stove, Jean pain Heating using scintillation tubes to bring everything to 50°, think about passive-solar such as a soda can collector.
ОтветитьI wanted a yurt my husband simply said we are ok money wise nit yurt money. He’s right
Ответитьso the roof supports snow. do you have to help the snow off the roof. i am amazed at how thing the siding looks. amazing how much it can support.
ОтветитьGet a masonry oven add a wet back and Ur in business
ОтветитьJust put a skirt of wood and insulate it then under the hurt is dry and warm storage, water will not freeze under the hurt then
ОтветитьThe refrigerator where can I find it
ОтветитьIf the land was owned in common, lots of people would do this. Too bad for the propertyless mass.
ОтветитьCozy 😅
ОтветитьWhere did you bought the yurt.
ОтветитьThank you for this. How strong and solid are the lattice walls?
ОтветитьInteresting
ОтветитьCould you lean on the 🛖 yurt’s wall?
ОтветитьThis is the first yurt I have seen that has real space dividers, walls, doors, etc. I like it much better. Yeah I like this, Yurts are a good idea as far as I'm concerned. (Interesting about the insulation, that's a good thing to know.)
I would want to put it up on a deck especially in areas that get snow and then a whole water thing could be put underneath and and even insulated but that's just my idea. I guess maybe the idea with with wind power is to get a lightning rod that's taller than the wind turbine. But again I really like this yurt he had a good job on it.
He's talking about going underground and it just pushes my claustrophobia button big time. Earthships are a bit different at least you got a wall that that isn't buried in dirt. Although I did see that one it was a humongous house that was that was underground and had big huge skylights. It didn't even feel like you were underground that place was very cool. And I'm sure it was really really expensive.
So interesting! Can't wait to know more
ОтветитьAwesome brother!!! Congrats!!!!💜🙏🏻
ОтветитьThis is life!
ОтветитьWonderful, back to (our own) nature, really inspiring, thank you 🙏🌳🌞
ОтветитьYES THIS IS WHAT WE ALL HAVE TO LEARN. we are so spoiled. Maybe the corona virus can make us more greatful for our wonderful blessings we all take for granted.
Ответить+1 likes for canoe hanging from ceiling of yurt. Thanks for this.
Ответитьmy dude needs to use a bike to pump water. hand pumps suk.
Ответитьare u living in the snow
Ответить"I wanna build it all with sustainable materials... and last forever" bloody nonsense right there :D
ОтветитьAhh, having family is huge. I love how forthcoming he is. He's a pretty tough guy actually.
ОтветитьThank you for sharing, So happy for you & your future with your wife :) Love when 2 people can meet & want this lifestyle!
ОтветитьWow! What a glorious yurt! Totally totally love it!
ОтветитьBeautiful location & Beautiful life affirmation!!! Next yurt please get heated floors & u can also connect ur water (through copper pipe) to the wood burning stove so you can heat ur water up simultaneously & someone should seriously invent a device which takes snow and turns Into portable water !!!
ОтветитьHi David, I emailed you years ago, maybe 2007 about the yurt. Glad to see this video, and I agree that earth-sheltered is probably your next step.
Ответить❤️❤️❤️
ОтветитьThat man could survive on friggen mars...
ОтветитьSmart fellow! Well spoken.
ОтветитьVery interesting and informative.
ОтветитьThat's super cool. I have to say that I like my full body shower a bit too much to get into something similar
ОтветитьLoved the story maybe one day I will be as happy as you are.
ОтветитьThis is definitely a real man
ОтветитьI want to know how he would have designed it if he decided to live by himself.
ОтветитьChop wood, carry water. Doesn't matter if you hike a long trail, live in a van and travel the 'blue highways' or do this. It changes the way we think and changes our lives forever.
ОтветитьToo bad the audio is up and down
ОтветитьWish i worked in and inherited a financial investment firm! I'd have expensive hobbies to!
