Hi, found this vid, becouse I'm looking for a new PC for Blender 3d modelling up to 10k polygons, with time to time rendering. I wonder if i9-11900k would be a good idea WITHOUT any dedicated GPU.
Or is it better to get mediocore CPU like Ryzen 5 3600 and mediocore GPU like 1650/1660 for this? It would fit in similar price at this moment (gpu prices are insane)
What could be your view on this?

Hello. Does GPU make 3d modelling workflows like simulations and rigging faster? Or does it only speed up rendering?

Nice presentation and plenty of details in clear and ear friendly english & tone ;) keep up the good job ;) I have just one tinsy question: what is the best kind of configuration for a workstation that I need to build at some point for extremely heavy detail viewports + real time rendering & presentations on gpu / cpu (hybrid if efficient, gpu only if not) for BLENDER + UNREAL + various add-ons / tools COMBO (example: does Blender's viewport starve on core speed or number of cores ?) Thank-you !

Was Nvidia Optix enabled for the Nvidia GPUs?

So the more cores/threads the better for render will be? I was debating between RYZEN 7 3800X vs I7 9700X, but after I watch this video it looks like RYZEN 3800X will do better in blender. Does anyone else agree on this?

Great Video Sir!!! Just what I was looking for!!! Quick Question...... Did you use the same CPU on all the Viewpoint Test? And if so what CPU was it? Does The CPU not that Much in Viewpoint and that's why you didn't show it? Thanks again for the Great Video!!!

Blender is faster about 4% in Windows 7 (than W10)

I cannot even begin to tell you what Blender has become in my filmmaking life. I am currently knee deep in an animated movie. It is not easy, this shit is quite complex for me, I keep ending up with characters eyes in different scenes, but I am slowly getting the hang of it. But I am now, after downloading blender for the first time just 4 months ago, 5 minutes in to what will be a 7 minute proof of concept trailer and I am blown away at the world this has opened up for me. I have yet to see anyone from Blender even ask for a single dollar! If there is somewhere I should be donating please let me know. (I just noted there is a patreon account, cool, I'll send some support) Open source is going to completely change the way this world works. I am blown away by the efforts of everyone involved. Best wishes, Chaz.

Thank you so much for the tests. Can I use Blender without a good gpu? I'm planning to buy a Ryzen 9 3900x with 32 gigabytes of ram instead of an RX 5700 because I'm too afraid to run out of vram. Will I feel too much the missed video card in the blender viewport? Can I do sculpt and simulations without a good video card? Thank you so much!

would you recommend an rtx 2060 or the 5700 for 3d? given the support for nvidia with gpu renderers like octane etc. But 5700 is more powerful? any advice greatly appreciated

Driver version also matters.... I upgraded my Nvidia drivers recently and every time I do that I do a few blender benchmarks with the classroom and bmw scene and I noticed I had a 15% drop in speed. So take note of your Nvidia drivers in your next review please :D . I would also be interested in some new data now that 2.8 has been released to see what you come up with and in particular what multi GPU rendering is like in Blender. I am waiting for a new RTX 2070 super to arrive and will be testing whether or not Blender can pick up 3 x GPU on a MSI z97 ... fingers crossed it will pick up all 3 GPU's as that would be a massive speed increase !

Current 2.8 performance is not good at all specially in edit mode and save are taking forever! I don't believe that final release will really improve it that much either maybe a bit but not very much.

Would love to see a test like this focusing on viewport performance (FPS when playing back an animation in a relatively complex scene) on various cpus/gpus in Eevee.

Hi, i just got a 2080 and "upgraded" from a 1070. Im not noticing any speed improvement at all! On paper the 2080 is more powerful even with out RT. But in my case its not giving me anything. Do you have any clues as to where I may be going wrong? should i just return this 2080? any thoughts would be helpful, thanks.

is Eevee able to use the rt cores on the cards, or is it only using the "standard" way ?

Great video! I Believe the difference between 2.79 and 2.80 renders have to do with the color management, blender 2.79 is on default by default wheres b2.80 uses filimic with base contrast

Nice, but new Blender is not 2.8. It is 2.80 - not "two point eight" but "two point eighty". 2.79 is from "two point seventy"(2.7x) branch, not "two point seven" (2.7.x).

Really great video! I'm just starting out, so the 2.79 bits don't really apply to me, but I do know I'm in the market for an upgrade in the future, if I want to get serious with Blender; I'm working on an AM3+ machine I built back in 2014. Works well enough, does what I need for the moment, but she's showing her age. FX-8350 and an RX 560 4GB on a Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 (Rev 5).
