4K TVs are a complete joke. Who needs that many pixels crammed onto a screen? It's just a stupid gimmick that's completely pointless. Who needs to see every little bit of detail and sharp image? I mean, come on. You don't need to spend thousands of dollars on a TV just so you can see the wrinkles on some actor's face a little clearer. It's ridiculous. Give me my old-school CRT and a 1080p TV any day of the week. Those 4K TVs are just a waste of time and money.

Thinking about how 1280x720 is called 720p, 1920x1080 is 1080p. But 3840x2160 suddenly received the name "4K"? And to top it all off, calling it 4K is rounding up an imaginary 160 pixels. That's like calling 1080p "2K" and 720p "1.5K" but no manufacturer did that. Sure it looks better but it's inherently a gimmick by name. Just wondering why the "K" thing started with the 2160p resolution specifically.

I still think the CRT and the 1080p TVs we're still better than 4K for many reasons the 4K seem to glitch on the films when I went on Disney plus the thing was like glitching even with HBO Paramount when you watch a cartoon it was like glitching I don't know what the deal on that is

I bought a base model Samsung LED 75" TV for my living room on Black Friday sale for under $500, paired it with a Samsung surround 5.1 mid range sound system with voice enhancement and Dolby Atmos and a more than powerful enough sub, all for about One G. This is to replace a seven year old Samsung 57" LED TV which I gave to my college son. Best one thousand dollar home theatre and I love it. I'm watching movies and listening to music with all the clarity and sound stage and boom that I am absolutely enjoying every bit of it. Are there better technologies out there? yes of course, and will always be. But I'm more than satisfied.

Most modern movie content is encoded/filmed in 2 k and upconverted. There is not much point in 4 k unless your using your TV as a fancy photo album.

CNET lying through their teeth again, I see.

The Samsung QN90A is NOT the best 4K LCD TV on the market. Not even close.

It uses an IPS panel. If you know, you know.

The best 4K LCD's on the market are the Hisense U8G, Vizio PQX-H1, and the TCL 6-Series R646, full stop.

Go check out testing reviews of each, not influencer opinions.

The best consumer televisions are Panasonic, but Panasonic no longer sells them in the United States and Canada — Europe and Japan only these days. It’s a shame, because the quality of Panasonic is impeccable.

The problem here is cnet has tested only a small number of models which is inexcusable for technology based website. Katzmaier hasn't tested a number of Sony televisions such as the A90J, A80J and X95 which compete very well against the LG OLED and Samsung QLED televisions.

The A90J is arguably the best television you can buy money no object. It has what is called a heatsink behind the panel which allows the TV to dissipate heat more efficiently and hence is able to push specular highlights hard without fear of image retention.

The A80J competes with the C1 on price but has better overall video processing. The C1 is better for hardcore gamers.

The X95J competes with the QN90A and arguably has better overall PQ. Currently the X95J costs more but I suspect it will come down in price as we get deeper into the Holiday season.

No one will probably believe me but I don't own a Sony and have no plans to do so. I just think it's pretty blatant that cnet has their best list but hasn't reviewed a notable part of the mid to high end television market.

The panel in the LG G1 isn't unique to G1. It is also in SONY A90Js, which has arguably better picture quality, and has much better sound quality.
