My understandings of these stories is that spirituality is real, we are part of a universal diverse system of life that exists across the universe and further. Our life on earth isnt any less spiritual just be ause we were genetically modified by beings who are jist as capable as us and what we are doing today. Yes they used us but they also gave us a gift at the same time. The gift of intelligence. My favorite idea of us is that we were basically like dogs, to humans. Some people may laugh at that ideology. But remember this is 500,000 years ago. Anyways, look at the way the planet looks and our differences between rural tribes. There is a huge difference between spirituality and "intelligence". Some religions are worse than others, but basically they killed everyone involved with the last things that made us gods creation and not mans creations. One must always question the politics of the story teller. When ethnic identity of the people in the story is different than that of the story teller then the point of view of the story teller can be a politically corrupting factor in how a story is told. .
