Sometimes, more often than not, I wish I didn’t have aphantasia. Descriptive language in books is so overwhelming to me. I have to read the same paragraph over and over again and I still don’t understand what the writer means. Sometimes I get so mad when the descriptions start that I just skip the paragraph all together. I recently started writing and the part I struggle the most with is to show, because I can’t see it. How am I supposed to describe something I can’t see? Anyway

I'm trying to write a dystopian novel for the first time and I just wanna know more sophisticated words, terms and phrases to make it more interesting but rather than just knowing how to write without much grammar mistakes, I'm not that good with English as I'm not a native, not even close.

Maybe if you’re having trouble writing descriptively just walk around places and write down what you’re doing descriptively, like washing your hands or watching the trees sway in the wind at the park or the push and pull of the ocean coming in and out all the while the salty, seagull squawking filled air brushes against your face.. wow that was unexpected haha I didn’t plan to write that down haha!! It’s that easy, but just remember to put in some sound, sight, taste, touch, smell and movement! Good luck future writers!!
