Thank you very much! Liked and subscribed!
Very interesting lab, but it was very hard for me (because i am dumb) to reproduce lab due to lack of comprehensible network map with subnets and ips. Especially with VPS machine and network. After 3 days i got success (yes i am not very smart). I got a new job 1 week ago and need to support network like yours. I am a junior network engineer and my employer is right about MPTCP providing. You saved my job place! I have found your channel and now i have hope that i won't be fired)))
So much videos on your channel yet to watch!
For the first section: Very usefull, I'm creating multiple subnetwork including DMZ.
ОтветитьThankyou ❤
Ответитьi love the way how you teach.. im not that knowledgeable on networks but you made me to understand it and im in totally copying your Lab.. Very much appreciated your effort to share your wisdom, understanding and knowledge that you have.. i give my respect to you with 4 HIGH five's!! with my toes.. hahaha :D put me on your list as your avid fan from this moment.. God bless you Sir Marc!!! Im from Philippines!!!
ОтветитьIt's a real shame not more people have the ability to appreciate your content.
Your videos are extremely well put together: well researched, clearly laid out, and I can tell you're trying to provide the most amount of value thru them.
The issue is that they demand a specific kind of intelligence and curiosity of your audience, and most of the Internet just craves pain entertainment.
However keep going, your stuff is invaluable to a lot of us!!!
The OpenWRT project actually features a rootfs-tarball as a download option. Did you try making an LXC container under Proxmox out of it?
ОтветитьI stopped to comment. Apparently this is really useful for me. I'm learning network topologies. And I would also like to know/test what speeds we can reach between VMs within Proxmox.
Yes, Docker is always coming. But wouldn't it be better to run Docker on the machine running Proxmox instead of virtualizing it?
wow your really cool l love you videos learned so much thank you
ОтветитьHai Mark, Thank you for provide amazing tutorial 🙌, I have a couple question :
1. I've been installed proxmox on virtual box, but i can't connect to the webgui interfaces and in the virtualbox network adapter 1 is attached to Host Only Adapter setting?
2. How I isolated the vm on proxmox in case i dont want 2 vm connect to internet but they both are connected
Thanks before in advance 🙏
You really make very easy to follow tech videos. Thanks
ОтветитьI plan to use it to install a full test environment for debian edu. Including a print queue. That got me thinking: is there a thing like a virtual printer?
And automating this is useful. I will probably document my setup just by writing a shell script. But automation also needs a dismantle script which removes everything the first script creates. That way one can create a new script if something needs to be changed, then use the dismantle script to remove all configs and VMs, and then run the new script and you get the new virtual network.
Hi, I'd just like to know the difference between the specific openwrt image that you used v.s. the default openwrt image. Is there a reason why you decided to pick that specific image?
ОтветитьKeren bang..
ОтветитьIs it possible to install OpenWRT in LXC container? or do I need a VM ?
ОтветитьI had a go at this today as I have a DC hosted proxmox server, do you know what NAT forwarding rules are required on Proxmox to have an OMR hosted VM in a remote proxmox server and installing a raspberry pi at home with 2 internet connections? Thanks for all your hard work and great content, really well put togeher.
Ответитьautomate deployment would be a nice piece of cake
ОтветитьThanks for your video, I'm learning networks, and you explain really good
ОтветитьI love this video. Its amazing! Thanks so much for making it. I learnt so much watching it
ОтветитьGood. Interesting your Lab
ОтветитьAppreciate this. Watching a bunch of your videos. I want to use proxmox to build a MPTCP connection through 3 connections (Starlink, 5G, wisp) with Pfsense for firewall and ddwrt for LAN/vlan routing. All in proxmox. Hopefully I can put it all together with the help of your videos.
ОтветитьOh cool, not knowing all the qm commands in pve the script deployment idea is interesting. I am interested in doing a similar setup, to yours, but using pfsenes (probably). Being a dev guy, not a network guy, I am interested in how we "connect" the virtual networks together.
ОтветитьYour tutorials are amazing. I like the way you make them. You prepare the videos in advance and give through explanation behind the scenes. In this tutorials you covered many issues, any of them may come handy for other purposes later. Thanks a lot.
ОтветитьSort of useful
I am building routing switching bridge on Debian at the moment
I would like to create docker image with DHCP, DNS, RADIUS, kerberos, samba and NFS.
This is not just a switch and not just a router
I have 4 quad port NICs, all put into one bridge, then each port have multiple VLAN and each VLAN lands into its own bridge as well.
This is being built so I can be very accurate what can pass from where to where.
I am currently using Cisco SG300-52 for my network, but proper isolation actually breaks things
is it required to disable dhcp on the Lte routers for Openmptcrouter to work
ОтветитьI am controling or login to promox machine using cable and a switch. My question is how can I bring this proxmox to my Internet router? An illustrated description ( real picture) would clear everything for me.
ОтветитьHallo Marc. Tolle Videos. Du erklärst das richtig gut. Weiter so. Eine Frage habe ich. Für was verwendest du die Shaper ? Sind doch eigentlich nicht notwendig oder ? Kann man doch in der OpenWrt Software auch einrichten. ???
ОтветитьProxmox automation would be interesting.
ОтветитьYes, I would like to see this implemented in Docker. Thank you for your workJ-)
Ответитьwhere did you get the lxc container templates? mine doesn't appear to have any
Ответить1. i thought virtualising an entire network was my idea. i am both spitting and delighted to know it wasn't.
2. i don't know what a docker is but now i'm curious
3. if there is ever a call to script everything, count me in.
Good stuff, however I an annoyed by the huge nu,ber of commercials in your videos that keep on interrupting the focus on the matter
ОтветитьHello, I think all of your videos are quite useful and interesting. Thanks!!!
ОтветитьHi Marc, as usual your videos are outstanding. Here are the answers to your call to action:
1) I find the video useful. I don't have a particular use case at the moment, but I find you need to see and understand things sometimes before the use case pops up. Your clarity really lets me see how things can be used.
2) Building the example network in Docker containers would greatly increase it's utility. Docker is just so much more widespread and familiar than LXC. It would greatly reduce the barrier to tinkering.
3) Automation would be really interesting. I am building my own small lab, and I am trying to decide on the host OS for its 4 nodes. I am deciding between Proxmox and Ubuntu 20.04 as key to me is ZFS support in Linux. It has to be Linux because of Docker, and I want to manage the Lab with Ansible. I am leaning to straight Ubuntu as I don't think I would benefit from the impressive Proxmos GUI. But videos showing Proxmox automation might sway me the other way, so those would really be interesting.
Again thank you for the time and effort you put into these. Your deep understanding comes through so clearly. Very much appreciated.
i want the script to automate this process as you mentioned in the video
ОтветитьMarc, your site is wunderbar, as are you, BUT you give me a headache! There is so much to take in. Where should I start? I copy the videos to look at offline and to keep as reference. I have 2 Proxmox running in a cluster to try and keep things separate. I would love to setup one of them to run the separate virtual network so I don't destroy my existing network which runs my IOT stuff, so running a setup script would be great if possible. I work best if having viewed your videos I can then follow written notes. Reading instructions helps me understand them better and digest as I am always being interrupted. Sorry for a large comment like this, I hope you understand where I am coming from. ATB.
ОтветитьDocker & docker-compose would indeed be super valuable. I'd put that above scripting the proxmox env build.
ОтветитьHi Sir Thanks for sharing. Any comments if you use pfsense instead of openwrt ?
ОтветитьThanks for the effort to teach us.
Ответитьthis would be a great addition to your docker network series. I haven't used Proxmox yet so some of your selections (of interfaces) on the Proxmox web screen were rather fast to take in first time around. I won't know if I've "got" it until I do a test install which means building an extra server for proxmox. My use cases are to bond lines for multiple lte and fixed wireless broadband links to remote locations - so being able to emulate networks is a really useful tool to have available. I'd also like to have a more portable bonding solution - for instance when travelling - both for improved connectivity but also for privacy and security. I am left a bit unsure whether the later RFC implementations are the versions being supported in this talk - i.e., it was a previous version that caused a problem?
ОтветитьHi, marc, great video by the way. I have a doubt. When I create a VM with the OMR, it shows only 2 WANS in the console of the OMR even though I have added the 3 shaper machines as network devices to the hardware of the OMR. any suggestions?
Ответитьyes it is
ОтветитьI think this environment would be great in docker (as you noted earlier) running in a container would require less resources and more complex labs. (Many home labs will have older hardware)...furthering the ability to effectively scale. Found/finding this video extremely useful.
ОтветитьThe video was very useful to me. I’m looking to explore this to learn more about vlans after.
ОтветитьIs there a benefit to set up WRT as a VM instead of CT?
The whole purpose me using Proxmox because it is Linux/Debian based, so I can run Linux based solutions with less resources by sharing same kernel.
Very nice and clear explanation. It is super useful that you gave a reason why certain thing is done
ОтветитьFrom GitHub I've install Shadowsocks server and I was successfully able to connect that with my smartphone Shadowsocks client app.
But when I install vps bonding server and tried to connect to Shadowsocks server in same way it's not allowing me to connect to the server through Shadowsocks client app. Can u please help me to figure out what's the difference why I'm not able to connect with mpvpn to same Shadowsocks vpn
