Microsoft Office vs LibreOffice | How to Make the Change

I have used LibreOffice for years, and would never go back to MicrosoftOffice. Great software.

Little Problem i found with Libre office (on Linux) is the files are saved in the same location . I.e . Create folder for doc and set the save path in write , then in spreadsheet do the similar I.e make a saved path etc. It then overwrites the doc saved path. Stores the files in the same folder .

So I had a question for you. Microsoft word/office 365 has a document translation function. I wanted to ask if LibreOffice has this? (Or a work around?) I may need this feature for some business needs. But I don't want to go back to anything Microsoft or windows if there's a way to avoid it. I like Linux and LibreOffice a lot better. Plus cheaper. LibreOffice is also a wonderful product.

few advantages to Libre
Linux support for full multiplat (MSFT not available on Linux)
I find scripting on it to be a far better user experience than both office and Google (beats google only slightly)
Libre offers draw and base (Google lacks both)
Can run Python scripts!
Libre is a fantastic product in it's own right

I am not as tech-savvy as you. I want to load the MS fonts into my Libre Office but don't have Flat Pack or the Terminal app. How do I get the MS fonts?

Unless you're constantly sharing files with people who use MS, I'd say save them in their original format.

Started with Libre office and switched to Word subscription service to finish my book on multiple devices...PC, Chrome book, tablet and phone. Libre office is very hard to use on many devices...no android app or apple app and moving around files is a pain. You get what you pay for but on a single device Libre office is great for simple uses.

My reason for Installing LibreOffice today is that I was tired of all of these complicated-ass features & shit on Microsoft Office (Including something about their damn AI shit, but I could be wrong, though). Not to mention that if I continue to save many a document with Microsoft Office, I'm afraid my documents will be tied to my account and/or the cloud & shit. So, yes, again, that's why I installed LibreOffice in addition to Microsoft Office. It's just that I'll be using the latter than the former as of tomorrow & going forward.

How do i change the annoying title bar on Windows. It's blue and doesn't blend with the rest of the page. I'd like it a dark grey or black.

Hello, when I open a xmls file that has cells linked to other xmls files in Libre Calc, it says that the linked filed were not found and values are not updated. Any ideas how to fix this?

I'm not a big MS fan, but from all the alternatives I've seen, they all have their quirks, which is why MS Excel is so popular, out of the box, it works, can be customized without having to download and configure additional features. Many of us have decades invested into Excel and VBA, and to have to navigate around re-learning how to do old things, a new way, skipping countless hours wondering how to fix the things that don't crossover between LibreOffice and MS Office, you mays well just fork over the money, and stay with Excel, a name that people have been familiar with since Lotus 1-2-3 went extinct.

I saw a recent tutorial on the newer versions, if u send a document from this program the reciever needs to have libre office to read it BUT simple work around save and send as a PDF then most ppl will be able to read it.

O.k., so I have apparently downloaded the most current version so the fonts are already in there. I followed everything else you said. It doesn't show me an "options" section, I have to just go to the bottom of the list and click it and options turns up. Some of the options on the top of the document is obscured. The way to insert is to tap F11, and in the current edition (2022) the way to turn off overwrite is through the lower right hand portion of the line just above the task bar. This is the lower line with page numbers, word count, character count, page style, language, and zoom reports.
Between the language box and the zoom box in the lower right portion of the screen, 'OVERWRITE' will appear when the word processor has gotten onto overwrite mode.
Simply click on that report. OVERWRITE will vanish, and your keying will return to normal insert mode.

90% of people don't even use like 10% of the functions in MS Office, but they will pay for it anyway, because they are scared of changes. In my country the government won't give more money for healthcare and education but they will spend millions for freaking Windows and MS Office licenses, because bunch of dumbasses who use basic functions of MS Office can't do they work on free software. This is the circus we live in.

Problem is all the world use Microsoft Office and the DOCX is the standard but if you want to exchange a final work you can always save to PDF and send your work.
