"no, I'm excited!"
ОтветитьGreat video... quick industry gripe. Camera makers keep selling us yesterdays stuff. 18 years ago I setup a lab test that needed highly accurate time. We built a timeserver that used time from GPS satellites. I haven't heard of it being done for cameras, but cameras could easily do this. Especially those that have a GPS receiver... Otherwise an external GPS chipset could be connected. And only real argument against a GPS chipset is maybe power consumption. They're like the size of end of your pinkie finger now, heck you get watches with GPS now. Then you can sync to atomic clocks in satellites all based off GMT. All equipment with a receiver that costs pennies, maybe dollars at most. No need to sync up otherwise with cables and a bunch of BS. I think most of us are ready for this. When is Sony, Panasonic, Canon, etc going to do it?
ОтветитьFuck you buddy. I just liked your video. HA. Take that.
Ответитьyour camera displays timecode on the screen, my a6700 doesnt. Was that something you had to turn on manually?
ОтветитьHow I can use Timecode to sync three Sony A7S III cameras? I also will be using Zoom H6?
ОтветитьFx3 time code settings bro
ОтветитьIs there a setting so the camera does not continually display TC on the screen?
ОтветитьThank you!!
ОтветитьCan you make the UltraSync blue work with the Sony's?
ОтветитьThe Dude abides... I'm subscribing because of that!!!
ОтветитьVery big Thanks, thats what i looking for very long time
ОтветитьNice trick, for FIncal CUt PRo users; keep in mind Sony cameras record video in MP4 which doesn`t wrap metadata, so no timecode embedded, so Final Cut Pro X wont take that timecode unless you import it straight from the SD to the FCPX project (FCPX then would wrapd the MP$+TC in a .MOV)
ОтветитьTentacle Sync booom!!
ОтветитьVery helpful and intresting video. Ive tried doing it on my Sony A7III cameras but they both give me this notice: This function is currently disabled. Does anyone knows how i can enable it?
ОтветитьIts not all sony mirrorless cameras.
The a5x00 and a6x00 dont have it
Can I sync a camera with sound recorder like Zoom f6, it's with internal timecode but how to sync them??
Ответитьgood afternoon, please tell me (Sony a7 IV Mirrorless Camera) there is timecode?thanks in advance,
ОтветитьHow do I turn this off :’) it’s annoying and I don’t need it…
ОтветитьAnother way around it is convert 2 time stamp video
ОтветитьAwesome..
Thanks for freaking educating me !! SUBSCRIBED
Have you tested this yourself on a full-day, professional shoot? I can't imagine this method would be at all precise. Even if you could somehow reset the TC of all your cameras at the same time (most likely impossible, too much room for human error, especially if you are doing it with another person or several), the clocks in these mirrorless cameras like the GH5 or A7SII/III are just too imprecise - they WILL drift, even two cameras of the same model. They are not TCXO clocks, most likely just a simple digital clock to give you a general idea of time of day for your photo metadata. Even if the cameras were to stay relatively in-sync (or off-sync, but in the same fashion), they certainly would not be able to sync up with a proper audio field mixer and timecode generators attached to other cameras, meaning the whole point of "being able to take bigger jobs because you have timecode* is moot.
The only way to get proper TC into one of these mirrorless cameras without a dedicated TC input (GH5S included, the TC jam in that is only momentarily, before immediately going back into the unreliable digital clock) is with continuous Audio-TC coming from something like a Tentacle Sync or Ambient Lockit, like you mentioned at the end, that has already been jammed with a master clock, like from a sound mixer for example.
I just hope no one sees this and thinks they can actually start advertising that their camera has timecode to potential clients, because no serious sound mixer would take them seriously. If you don't have a Tentacle or Lockit, just get a decent camera-mounted shotgun and sync with waveforms.
Thank you for the information. good luck, i'm following
ОтветитьCan this work for Sony A7S2 and A73?
ОтветитьThanks for the vid but the timecode seems to get lost after importing to Lightroom and then into FCPX. It seems the Sony files structure has to be maintained exactly, in order to preserve timecode. Where is TC actually stored and how to include it into my normal import workflow?
ОтветитьWhat mobile "run and gun" audio recorder would you recommend with time code. Currently have the zoom F1 but it doesn't have a time code function (is there maybe a trick around that, like resetting the date and time on both devices?). Curious to your thoughts!
Ответитьhere .l. hahahaha
ОтветитьThank you so much!
ОтветитьWhy is my time code disabled inside of my Sony a7R3? I only have one option to choose from and that’s from counter to TC. All the others settings are disabled
Ответить.I.
ОтветитьDoes the A7III have timecode input from generators such as the tentacle sync?
ОтветитьThis option is non existence on a6000. :/
ОтветитьMy a7 is mirrorless and I can't find this feature
ОтветитьFor some reason, the TC Preset function is disabled on my Sony A7ii. Does anyone know why that is? Thanks!
Ответитьwould be easier if you could sync the cameras with real time through your phone that way you wouldnt need to press record at the same time. Just hit record whenever and everything would be in sync with 1/100 -1/1000 of second accuracy. I dont know if that is possible with the current software though
ОтветитьI just noticed how dirty his camera is and it's shocking.
ОтветитьThere's no damn middle finger emoji!!! I guess I'll just have to like this video.
Ответитьgood stuff. thanks for making this vid!
ОтветитьWhen this video came out all this went over my head. Fast forward to now I’m like, “this all makes sense now.”
ОтветитьNOT for ANY Sony mirrorless..do your homework better..huh
ОтветитьHhhhh I like the last part of the video, if you found this useful don't subscribe :D
ОтветитьAny way to get the HDMI time code from an a6400 into a 3.5mm?
ОтветитьThe title is misleading as both my Sony mirrorless cameras do not have timecode
ОтветитьBest explanation so far. Question: What happens if sometimes you are multicam and sometimes only one camera. How are the different clips placed on the timeline? Tks.
Ответитьthanks again for this
ОтветитьDid a set up like yours. When I use the footage and wanna make slow motion out of it it looks terrible, robocalls dance style, what the hell did I wrong here ;-)
ОтветитьI seriously never signer up for a channel after the call to action, before today.
Ответитьthank you for great timecode explanation! I appreciate your video!
